I'm slightly autistic.
Alcohol makes me feel somewhat normal.
Why can't scientists extract the part that fixes the autism but without the negative parts that ruin your health and then sell it as a cure?

>I start FEELING healthy
>that means it MAKES me healthy
bruh

You can purify ethanol (the part that changes your mood) pretty far to remove the congeners that make you feel like shit, but ethanol itself is detrimental to your health. Your liver converts it to fat, and with nowhere else to put it your liver cells become crammed with fat globules. Drink a lot of pure ethanol often enough and those cells will die, and eventually your liver starts scarring instead of regenerating functional tissue.

Research drugs that have a similar pharmacology. I'd start with gabapentinoids.

wait wait, how often are we talking about to get this fucked up behavior?
>>

if you gonna self medicate with alcohol you gonna get it in 10 to 20 years period
>>
>>16788464
no I mean, how much alcohol and how often, basically because I know people that drink every day, others drink every weekend, and so on

self medication usually means addiction, addiction means high frequency and increasing amounts

I've seen Phenibut mentioned on here a few times as having similar social effects to being buzzed. Anyone taken it before? Apparently you build a tolerance though and the withdrawal can be brutal

Like everything else to do with your body, it all depends on your particular physiology and there's no clear-cut threshold between "it's fine" and "permanent liver damage." The more you drink and the more often you drink the higher the odds you'll have problems. If someone has one or two standard drinks a day but are otherwise healthy and active they'll probably never have an issue. Someone who's consuming alcohol all day to smooth out their mood is much more likely. Your nervous system also builds a tolerance to alcohol which is why people who never drink are messed up after two beers but alcoholics can put away a case every day just to be functional. If you're medicating with it you'll develop a tolerance and you'll require more to get the same effect like this guy said >>16788476.

You should consider that while it helps you "feel somewhat normal" it might make you appear worse to those around you. Alcohol tends to bring out who you really are as a person by lowering inhibitions while making you feel euphoric at the same time.

I took a ton of that shit in high school, very sour, gross. Inhibitions go away. That's the first thing they give u if u say u have anxiety here
>>
It doesn't stop you from being autistic, it removes what little ability you had to detect when your mask was off. You're acting even more autistic when you drink but you're not able to tell that you are doing it.

It's methanol

counseling, acceptance, and SSRIs

t. clinically diagnosed. used to drink booze to loosen up inhibitions and lower anxiety enough to be able to play multiplayer games online. (I had a full time office job and could chat with coworkers no problem, the issue was with strangers). After diagnosis and medication and a shitload of effort in CBT and DBT I don't drink anymore. Still smoke a lot of weed, the psychiatric team is aware of this

"low" LOL.
That stuff is fun but look out for bromism.
>>
>>16788261
Ethanol is directly neurotoxic btw, even setting the liver effects aside
>>16788455
Not the same but close
>>16789004
Worse but arguably has a cleaner phamacological profile
