What would cause completely normal people to have a random traumatic psychological attack where they're assaulted by unknown beings and be left with missing time afterwards?

Aliens aren't real but there's clearly something that's causing random people to lose their marbles with stories that correlate with one another. What could it possibly be?

I have a theory that people frequently have minor strokes and aneurysms that mostly go unnoticed and may be responsible for these otherwise random unexplained mental disturbances. I myself had such an event. I had just boarded a plane and during takeoff I suddenly experienced very intense nerve pain radiating throughout my body accompanied by paralysis and the sensation that I was vibrating like a taught string. Lasted maybe a minute or two. At the time I attributed it to vibrations from the engine knocking something loose inside me but I can see how this sort of thing might be mistaken for the paranormal. I have since experienced the same vibrations in a state of sleep paralysis during lucid dream attempts but not accompanied by the pain and never while awake.

Short-form media makes people more susceptible to suggestion- it's like dosing the populace with a digital psychedelic. Although the purpose of its proliferation is to facilitate a new form of social control, neurotypical subjects are implicitly excluded from its generalizations, resulting in them exhibiting these 'unpredictable' behaviors.

When I was 23, during sex I suddenly saw a flash of bright light and felt a sensation like warm oil being poured on the right side of my head. Next thing I know I'm on my back and my girlfriend is crying next to me. She said I made a grunting noise and then went completely limp on her. I was out for what she said was maybe twenty seconds. Since I was a poor fag didn't go get it checked out. Always wondered if that was some kind of minor aneurysm.

>Fermi Paradox TLDR; edition
>if aliens are real why has nobody seen one yet??
Also:
>what would cause totally normal people to say they were visited by aliens, abducted by aliens, assaulted and abused by aliens, and then roofied by aliens?
