seriously, is there no way to turn gravity off?
we just have to deal with this shit until we discover negative mass that takes the entire energy of the universe to create a tablespoon of?

Nazis and bees already did it.
You simply vibrate at a frequency and amplitude that nullifies the typical physical forces around you.

Don't look down

you gotta make the sheet stiffer, if you didn't sink into it things wouldn't roll towards you

No one's gonna discover negative mass.
Gravity is functionally like interconnecting a lot of wires in a small area.
The local energy is simply being routed there due to the lower resistance, that's all there is to gravity.

It's all a big fucking circuit, we just lack a satisfying model to describe it.

And before someone quotes the Rochester study, that one is about negative "effective" mass.
It doesn't prove negative mass, but sure scipop magazines would have you believe otherwise.

There are studies into anti-gravity trying to produce it. So maybe we will have anti-grav tech in the future. All of those studies stand on the theoretical grounds for gravity (general relativity, unified field theory). Studying those may lead to ideas about anti-grav.
