Science kills faith because it slowly robs the world of the conditions where belief could even make sense. Once you start seeing the universe not as a stage for divine providence but as a system of impersonal forces and mathematical regularities the old framework collapses. The Christian promise of a purposeful cosmos overseen by a personal God gets hollowed out until it's just poetry without substance. What's left is this mechanistic machine-world indifferent to our existence where "meaning" is no longer baked into the structure of reality. That's why atheism and nihilism inevitably grow in the soil of scientific rationalism, it strips away the illusions that kept people anchored in hope. Nietzsche saw it clearly, the same devotion to truth that Christianity demanded ends up killing Christianity because science takes that demand to its logical conclusion. And when you stand in that stripped-down landscape you don't find God, you find a void. The more science advances the wider that void becomes until faith looks less like a foundation and more like a coping mechanism that can't survive its own children.

Analytical thinking doesn't lead to atheism and vice versa. For example, in UK analytical thinking is found out to lead to religiosity, but in US analytical thinking leads to non-religiosity.

Rationalism is not the strongest pathway to atheism, really. The most strong way to atheism is having less Credibility Enhancing Displays (CREDs) that refers to behaviors that outwardly demonstrate a person's commitment to their professed beliefs. In a globalized and diverse society you have less consistent CREDs: there are just too many religions at once.

So, OP, no: science, scientific thinking and rationalism doesn't lead to atheism so much. Although with the development of our society religions will die that not address other religions. And in a way it's natural: we will have better belief systems.

You can also look at other countries, very interesting results.

No Abrahamic religions are just wrong
>>
I believe in God, but not in religions.
I don't accept beliefs from ignorant goatfuckers who didn't know shit about anything.
You can have faith and still look at truth in the face.

Religions are needed for ignorant people, so that they behave like fuyckign human beings, but they're really in due to some facefuck of reality.
Religions are a tool to build a community and share a culture. Choices made for reasons are lost to nebulous faith. Retards read words and not meaning.

That's just a shit study. They looked at 150 random students in the uk and tried to find a correlation between their religious belief and score on some test. That's not how you test the claim you made.

If you actually look at professional philosophers and scientists as your sample of people who think analytically, you'll find that they're much more likely to be atheists than the general population.
>>
>>16800313
>If you actually look at professional philosophers and scientists as your sample of people who think analytically, you'll find that they're much more likely to be atheists than the general population.

>>

It does, though. Once you go past the academic midwit intellectual deadzone, the more intelligent your sample is, the more diverse its views tend to be. This is a fact and one that makes you foam at the mouth with rage.
>>
>>16799848
why do atheists think like this? Its not true in the slightest. Faith is about trusting in Christ for His forgiveness and things like that, not about if we can explain something about the world around us. The more we understand about the universe the more we see how God created it all to work as it does, thats all.

>Eminent scientists reject the supernatural: a survey of the Fellows of the Royal Society

>In the USA, while around 16% of the general population report no religious affiliation approximately 95% believe in God or some higher power (Gallup & Lindsay 1999); (Lugo et al2008). US scientists, however, are substantially less likely to hold belief in the supernatural (Larson and Witham 1997; Leuba 1916). Interestingly, this difference is far more evident among distinguished scientists: Larson and Witham (1998) found that 92% of the members of the National Academy of Sciences reject a belief in God or higher power. Religiosity in Great Britain is less robust than in the US, with polls reporting only 42% believing in a personal God and 52% believing that God or some higher power had a hand in creating the universe (ICM Research 2005). What about British scientists? One thousand and seventy-four Fellows of the Royal Society of London were invited to participate in a survey of attitudes toward religion; 248 Fellows replied. They were asked about their beliefs in a personal God, the existence of a supernatural entity, consciousness surviving death, and whether religion and science occupy non-overlapping magisteria (NOMA). Overwhelmingly, the majority of Fellows affirmed strong opposition to the belief in a personal god, to the existence of a supernatural entity, and to consciousness after death.

If you look at the percentage of scientists who are religious, it closely mirrors the religious beliefs of the population they come from.

Looking at any cherry picked list like the one you picked doesn’t determine the “best” scientist and “WOOOOOAH THEY’RE ALL ATHEIST CHECKMATE CHRISTFAG!!!1!”

The royal society of any other “select group” isn’t a representative sample of the population of scientists.

It's what Classical Physics (and its precursors) suggests, which, as far as the greatest minds of the West's intellectual tradition were concerned, made it look like the whole thing was designed by an omniscient engineer. This deity also served as the sole logical guarantor that so-called "physical laws" are actual laws as such and that the universe is, in fact, intelligible. OP is a seething highschool dropout.

Pretty funny how zealous IFLS NPCs are about appropriating and re-framing the products of theistic thought, all while they try to undermine its logical, philosophical and historical basis. They'd be better off embracing some off-brand variant of Eastern organicist thought, with a view of nature as a self-contained, self-regulating phenomenon of fuzzy patterns, instead of a fancy clockwork mechanism. That naturally renders deities superfluous. But it involves thinking outside of the box dead theists have previously set up, so they literally can't do it. Golems need someone else to think for them but the curators of modern "public intellectualism" have no interest in amending pic related. Culls the useless eaters just fine. :^)
>>
>>16800738
Did you decide to go all-out with your retardation before your handlers euthanized you? :^)
>>
>>16800708
The thing is that every thing we say in classical physics is formulated by us. Newton formulated newtonian mechanics. And what, can you apply it to particles? No. This view of the world as being design as an omniscient engineer is because we lack understanding of it and we are very good at formalizing things.

And speaking about physical laws: aren't they just form of abstraction? You don't literally see physical laws. The physical laws we have written are just decription of the processes that we see around us. Can we really say that this laws governed the universe? There are also assumptions and axioms in some of them, for example, Einstein made an axiom that speed of light is constant in every direction. Maybe it is faster in one direction, and slower in the other, but overall describing it this way or with it being constant in every direction is the same, because it doesn't change anything we see. In the sense they are equivalent propositions.
>>
>>16800762
>The thing is that every thing we say in classical physics is formulated by us.
The way they saw it, the universe (as they knew it) was not only intelligible to humans, but amenable to predictions in terms of neat little mathematical laws, which in and of themselves were seen as strangely aesthetic. It made them perceive a rational blueprint behind it all, etched by a rational and order-loving mind, intended to be deciphered by similar (in kind, not degree) minds. Claiming that humans formulated Classical Physics does absolutely fuck all to undermine this view. It's the mess of modern physics that starts to make it look like maybe this whole thing wasn't meant to be understood by humans at all.
>>
>>16800711

That’s the point I’m making

You aren’t capable of intellectually grappling with any argument put forward by a theist.

You just cling to “atheist super heroes” because your Marvel addicted Reddit brain isn’t capable.

You want scientists to be atheist because it gives you your mental updoots so you feel more secure.

Truth is true no matter who believes it
No matter who doesn’t believe it

Smart people are capable of being wrong

You think some physicists, an unrepresentative sample of scientists, being “on your team” makes you more right.

I'm just gonna ignore your psychotic illness and check if you're lying about Laplace being an atheist.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre-Simon_Laplace
>Laplace cites with approval Leibniz's criticism of Newton's invocation of divine intervention to restore order to the Solar System: "This is to have very narrow ideas about the wisdom and the power of God."[103] He evidently shared Leibniz's astonishment at Newton's belief "that God has made his machine so badly that unless he affects it by some extraordinary means, the watch will very soon cease to go."[104]

The rest of the article notes there's no record of Laplace ever denying the existence of a god. So yeah, you're just lying again. Laplace was Deist with a view like the one I described, which is reflected in the anecdote you tried to misconstrue.

From this point on I'm just going to ignore your psychotic thrashing completely.

No, this is wrong.
What you're saying is religion = christianity, and this is wrong. There is the possibility that god (or several gods) exist, depending on your definition of god.

Maybe "god" is the combined power of all the forces around us. Maybe "god" is a 5 dimensional being that interacts with us sometimes. Maybe "god" is some super advanced alien that has access to technology that looks like magic to us.
There are several ways to look at it, and just because you lost faith in your religion doesn't mean that everybody else has to feel the same.

>NPD psycho is the last person on the board to be able to understand the science I posted 10 years ago now, that proves him conclusively wrong, all while projecting his mental illness onto others
cluster B's are just broken records, you are incapable of improving, advancing. evolving. You are the quintessential NPC, You can never muster an argument against a superior intellect which is why you only have a handful of response posts which are all projecting your mental illness onto others

if it is everyone else who is mentally ill, instead of you, you dont have to feel defective and broken anymore

pathological lying is a main attribute of cluster Bs like him. Everything that ever comes out of his mouth is just to try and manipulate his "audience." He likely couldnt tell the truth even if he wan ted to because they are psychotic and incapable of correctly interpreting reality much like a legit schizo. They are mind broken due to some childhood trauma and in order to function their minds splintered similar to DIDs or colloquially known as multiple personality disorder. Their mind just writes fictions when reality is too much for them to cope. In their fiction they are never wrong and it everyone else who are the problem (they create everywhere they go).

>No Abrahamic religions are just wrong
According to the laws of mathematics and physics the concept of life and death, or the soul are completely irrelevant, because these phenomena are already known and resolved; we are biobots adapted to one particular environment “the planet Earth”
