Change the name from the covariant derivative to the invariant derivative. That's what it's doing. That's how it works. That needs to be the name.
the notation is so shit
>>16804121Is covariant derivative a term only physicists use? Are they not just what mathematicians call a connection, or is there some difference?
>>16804184General relativity is entirely dependent on the /invariant/ derivative, so you see it a lot. Same with the metric tensor.
>>16804126the notation is shit in differential geometry in general. i mean fucking hell with the indicies, good luck with remembering that shit
>>16804210I think that mathemeticians should at least adopt japanese quotation marks (Kagi and Kakko) to indicate matrices. 「ij」
>>16804223Also for the indexes themselves. 「k」
>>16804188Why did you respond to me with something unrelated to either of my questions?
>>16804126Why? It's quite efficient, I like it.
>>16804126>the notation is so shitIt used to be a lot shitter
>>16804668normies can't into indices, even though they make everything crystal clear
