I decided to go to college to study physics and my high school friend decided to become a truck driver and now its only 6 years later and he is making well over 6 figures and has a wife and a house and children and I am still in school, still a virgin and my dad still pays my bills for me.
I thought I was smart because I study physics but seeing how my friend is progressing in life while I am still pretty much a child just like back in high school really rustles my jimmies. Should I quit school and become a truck driver? My friend said he would hire me to drive for him and eventually I could buy my own truck and earn big money like he is doing.
Alternatively if I stay in physics i'll probably never earn a decent salary, all the "science factoids" and formulas i've memorized for school are pretty much useless when it comes to earning money or getting a decent job, I feel like an idiot for wasting so much of my life on physics. Looking back, it seems like the "scientist" lifestyle is something only a low IQ could be tricked into choosing. Most of what I've learned studying physics is just stuff I could've looked up on wikipedia in my spare time if I had been driving a truck the last few years.

Correct. Now go get that truck license.

Just join Muskman at Spacex or something
>>
>>16820819
go work at a hedge fund create a trading algorithm (which i highly doubt your ass can like me) and collect 1m tc comp nigga
>>
>>16820819
Do you even like driving trucks?
>>
>>16820819
Learn to code or something, whatever you do, don't become a truck driver, you have the math skills to get a white collar job or maybe even start a company
>>
>>16820819
Elon musk, the richest man in the world has a degree in physics, it's a correlation, i'm not saying it's a causation, but i don't know about any former truck drivers who now run a fortune 500 tech company, but there a few physicists who do, so you're clearly smart, you have mathematical intelligence and proficiency, now you only need a way to apply that to the real world outside of academia

Apply for STEM positions you're somewhat underqualified for but tell them you're female. They'll be too afraid to question you and you get to be a DEI hire.

driving a truck seems scary, i was on the road for 2 years and totaled my car.
imagine being that guy who needs to turn his bigrig and he blocks traffic for like 10 minutes, i would feel the hatred of all the people i was getting in the way off, i would see them in my sleep like Achilles sees the ghosts of the men he killed in battle

Do it, better sooner than later.
You must be aware that driving trucks is not for everyone, if you lack abilities you will only end totaling a very expensive vehicle.
>>16821366
LMAO, the tech job market is a disaster filled with frauds and it will only get worse thanks to vibe coding.
>>
>>16820819
Up until the last sentence, I'd agree with you. But after reading that last sentence, I realized that you are a LARPer.

oooof

You have to be low IQ to begin with if you choose a major in which the only potential employment with that degree is "college professor"
>>
>>16821385
I was trying to cheer a guy up, it is not my problem if you have the emotional maturity of a 3 year old and you have a meltdown every time someone disagrees with you, what i meant to say was that the income ceiling is much higher for a stem graduate than it is for a college dropout, it doesnt mean that everyone who went into stem will become a ceo, although on average people with a stem degree will make more money than someone with no degree.

I believe you are missing the forest for the trees, the discussion is in a way about the question, ¨are college degrees worth it¨, and you may not say it, but you do believe they are, if you have kids, i know you will not tell them to drop out of college to become a plumber.

iq tests are a meme and they only measure mathematical proficiency up to the pre algebra level, they contain things like series, and youre not smarter for being able to identify a fibonacci sequence, it just means you read it on a book or that you did decently well on middle school math, it would be easier to take them seriously if they included things like calculus or lineal algebra, but that would only further prove my point, which is that they only talk about your academic preparation and not much else, if you were never able to receive an education, you wouldnt be able to do math or read well, but that would not make you a retard because that says nothing about your raw cognitive power, something that we cannot yet assess because we havent been able to map out the human brain entirely.
>>
>>16822184
you have to be low iq to take the metric of iq seriously, it was made by psychologists, which are also pseudoscientists, it is not the type of thing that is discussed in neuroscience lessons.
>>
>>16822515
Lmfao
Where do I begin
You can test QR which is a sub set of g quantitative reasoning gq with numerical sequences it’ll mimic their ability in math

If you hate numerical sequences you’ll be proctored the old sat which has a near linear g loading and is reliable as fuck

Iq measures raw cognitive power everyone cheats and posts fake scores that’s why iq seems meaningless lol

We’d need researchers to publish ranked math subjects by iq and it’ll show what sort of mastery each FSIQ and GQ everyone is capable of
>>
>>16822517
You’re dumb as fuck

If Iq tests don’t measure anything why does it correlate .76 with original matrices on a regression plane? It’s explaining the output of 2 variables you idiot it’s a significant correlation
>>
>>
>>16823139
My b
Let me respond directly
Mastering algebra 1 would take a higher FSIQ than pre algebra
The current scope of learning and defined terms within the nomenclature in academia is allowing for 90+ FSIQ people to do ODEs and SDEs etc because they’ve properly conceptualized algebra

Anyway

If academia and mathematicians didn’t use complex wordage or nomenclature to describe the attributes of mathematical syntax or notation then it wouldn’t be a hoot in a half for 93+ minimum to learn I don’t want to sound redundant

Most people don’t need more than algebra 1 and statistics at a undergrad level for work anyway

Nonverbal matters the most which is why god made it our highest index in relation to the entire cognitive profile

Ignore Taleb he’s retarded as fuck he uses public data to justify if Iq is a sham

Regression don’t lie cuh
>>
>>16822515
>we haven’t been able to map out the human brain properly

Really nigga then create another sub test or indicie for FSIQ tests nobody has discovered one not even me if anything it would be a spatial memory test that’s about it
>>

That dude is in his 70s, if he only drove for 28 years then what was he doing until he was over 42 years old? Studying physics?
Anyway trucks these days don't use the same glass that they did in the 1970s, so the tired old meme you posted doesn't mean anything. That one has been circulating on the internet for over 20 years, been around longer than cockmongler

>2nd line
its true, OP's friend was mature and sophisticated enough out of high school to become a functioning, contributing member of society and get a real job doing something legitimately useful.
meanwhile OP is still in school like a child despite being in his mid 20s or older
>>
>>16820819
stay in physics. become a teacher or prof.
once i was a truck driver, it was hell.
>>
>>16825452
>become a teacher or prof.
there aren't nearly enough teaching jobs available for everyone who gets a degree in the field to become a teacher, its highly competitive, theres enough available teaching jobs that about 1 in 20 are able to achieve that goal.
