>>16825541I’m giving you a serious answer. It’s up to you whether you will listen or not. Visualization. Positive thinking. You need to imagine an excellent result, instead of focusing on /dreading the work you must do. Results like good grades, high-paying job, hot girlfriend, people’s praises, and so on. I hope you get what I’m trying to say.
>>16825541Procrastination is caused by avoidance. You want to do the thing, but there's something scary or unpleasant about it, so you avoid it. When the deadline looms, fear of the deadline overwhelms fear of the thing, and you do it. Usually poorly, because it's a panic save. The most important tool for breaking this cycle is reflection. Pay attention to and spend a bit of time thinking about what you're up to. It's easy to dodge when you're on autopilot. It's harder to dodge when you are consciously aware of the pattern you are engaging in. Even if you repeat the pattern, spend time thinking about how that went. It'll make it easier to not do that next time.Another highly useful tool is to break things down into smaller chunks. Thinking you need to do the entire difficult scary thing all at once and you'll have no time for anything else is a great way to convince yourself to do it later. Poking it with a stick is a great way to get acclimated and accumulate a little progress at a time. Finally, consider blocking out time. If you commit to doing nothing but study for the next ten minutes, it's relatively easy to study for at least some of those minutes. It also builds the habit of studying, which can be handy. The downsides to putting aside too little time are obvious, but too much time makes it big and scary and encourages you to try to wriggle out of it. Small blocks are easier to commit to and follow through on.>>16825882Being able to work hard is a valuable skill. Remember the tortoise and the hare.
>>16825882Lol, same. I used to be a hard worker. I'm not even that retarded, got a few perfect score in several exams in university. But no matter how much I worked, it's impossible to do well in certain math and physics courses. Not trying to demoralize anyone. It's just facts of life. I don't know about you, but usually my courses published the grade/final exam's score distribution. No matter how hard people work, no matter how easy the course is, there will always be a curve. Some people like me are just not meant to do STEM, especially in academia. It's better to realize this early and make a plan B.
