I tried to solve some questions from math olypmiads, now i feel absurdly unmotivated. Doesnt matter how much i learn from the books, its diffucult to find a way to get outr of the problem. Sometimes i got the solutions in days, but the exame requires minutes to solve. And its like every question has its unique aproach to be solved, there's no general rules, so its an insanity. is it the way, to memorize every kind of question?
No, the way is to practice solving problems. The olympiads test your ability to *do* math, not to *know* math.

>>16829682>every question has its unique aproach to be solved, there's no general rulesThe first general rule of Math Olympiad is that there are no general rules of Math Olympiad.

>>16830485That's cope. Most people don't make it, hard work or not. I went to a good school. Everyone worked hard. Most of us still didn't get what we want. Whether is a good job, phd position, or something else.
>>16830490This. Its nice and all to work and hope for things, but in the end, if things outside your control don't want to go well, they won't go well. At that point, you have to give up, accept it, and move onto the next thing. Sure you might never make it, but anything is better than to be a rock in a river current: you will drown
>>16830490I will go even further with that - even people who have it all, who are naturally gifted and have iron-clad work ethic most often don't make it. At the cutting edge, luck is more important than competence. I'm obviously not claiming there isn't a very strong correlation - it gives you orders of magnitude more opportunities at success than e.g. investing yourself in sport. Being in the right field at the right time is more important than your capabilities. My take on this is: stop one upping each other, there's no point. Math is a cooperative sport and you'll realize it once you go past that weird episode in your lives where education system was putting you all against each other in order to scout most promising talent.
>>16830490No, now you're coping. Nobody has the right to be satisfied in life.
