Why are human beings the only animals that require a complex diet of different carb and micro nutrient sources? Seems inefficient.
>>
>>16832887
one, because our brains have bigger specs and demands. you don't want to eat so many nutrients? then just switch to a lower specs brain
two, eating varied foods makes you live longer and have lower disease risks, but you can survive on a shitty diet without a problem. most animals would live longer and have fewer diseases too if they ate better
>>

the human brain has shrunk in the last 400 years from 'better', 'nutrient' dense foods
>>
>>16832887
Because we are/were able to gather such foods. It's much cheaper than evolving to synthesise all that shit. So it's actually efficient, not inefficient.

Most complex kind of animal, shrimple as.

>>16832897
The real big-brain shit is to move past "required" nutrition and do all kinds of deranged China performance-enhancing shit with post-translational modification and epigenetic modulation.
>>
I only eat raw dairy, grass fed grass finished regeneratively pasture raised beef. Sometimes a bit of glyphosate free honey and some fruits. But basically nutrition is simple. None of that grain carb bs
>>
>>16832887
are we , have you talked to people who tend animals and they told you to only give them slop.

not disagreeing , I just wanna know how animals work. explaim to me how wierd they are.

what the fuck is that pic lmao

My wife.

We aren't particularly unique and our dietary requirements aren't that complex.
We don't produce our own vitamin C which is abnormal, it's basically primates and guinea pigs apart from us.

That one caveat aside, people can subsist well past reproductive age on "nutrient deficient" slop. But we've managed to live longer, healthier lives by learning what makes our clocks tick.
Animals in captivity live much linger than in the wild for the same reason: processed cat chow is genuinely "better" for a cat's longevity than the same cat eating whatever prey it manages to catch.

>processed cat chow is genuinely "better" for a cat's longevity than the same cat eating whatever prey it manages to catch.

Caged animal mortality rates are less comparatively to wild animals because they don't have to fend for their lives every waking minute, the chow isn't better. The quality of life is just easier.

It can be two things.
Feral cats will die of "old age" younger than too which can easily be attributed to better nutrition.
Not to mention the simple fact that cats were just an example. Apply the same logic to pretty much any animal and it applies in the sane way, whether they are at risk of predation in the wild or not.
>>
>>16833012
Starvation and malnourishment seem to be the leading cause of death for almost any animal nowadays. Many cats, both feral and domesticated, lack taurine in their diet which attributes to early natural causes.

It really depends on location.
>>
>>16833019
There's innumerable factors that come into play here.
Any anecdote about wild vs captive nutrition aside, the core point is that human dietary needs are not that complex relative to other animals.
Humans can live well past reproductive age on an intentionally shit diet and an animal's life span can be drastically improved with monitoring.
>>
>>16832887
I knew a guy who ate nothing but reeses peanut butter cups for like 5 years and could lift 3 times his bodyweight.
>>
>>16832887
we don't. our optimal diet is very narrow. plenty of other animals eat a wider range of things. any animal that can properly derive nutrients from fermentation can generally also digest eggs, meat, sugars in ripe fruits, etc. because it's not costly to do so. and some animals can eat just about everything.

You are legitimately braindead
And there's cat food that is just raw meat
>>
>>16832887
We dont, we are carnivores. People just dont want to admit to the obvious.
>>
>>16833054
>because it's not costly to do so
also because if they're mammals they need to digest milk, which has similar digestion to these foods.
>>
>>16833055
Cats have a hard time processing fat so even the "premium" shit that's just raw meat is almost always extra lean and usually supplemented with vitamins and minerals.
>>
>>16832887
youre a retard that has no idea why his pers constantly beg for human food

Instant ramen is all you need.

It's also different to compare.

Stray cats live 2-5 years.
House cats live 13-17 years.
So more than a 4x pump.

So I'd say we have no ideas how healthy human animals could be.
