Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis have nebulous causes in many cases and are two of the most common "ideopathic" pain disorders. Do you know how doctors know that osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are not just made-up whole cloth? You can literally see the damage they cause on x-rays. If you have either of these forms of arthritis, and you don't do any sort of treatment, you will grind your own joints to dust and eventually need major replacement surgeries.
