I'm a humanities person, and I want to learn to be more intelligent. My degree only focuses on pure memorization and repetition. But for me, an intelligent person is someone who can solve new and complex problems, even with incomplete information, and also learn from their mistakes. How can I learn to be that intelligent?

Teachers tried with metacognition to create more intelligent students but studies found that students could just apply those methods to the specific fields the teachers was taught them, in other words, the students were using memorization for analyzing.

Do daily cognitive demanding activities, learn as must as possible, and try to be genuinely interested in any sort of knowledge despise how niche it may look in the surface. Playing chess often is a good example of some activity that may improve your cognitive problem-solving skills, focus, and even your lateral thinking to some sort. Other than this just try to avoid oxidative stress and unhealthy lifestyles that promote passiveness and lack of real stimulation.
