is it unfair to say that the Soviet system never reached the levels of scientific innovation as the west? surely we can see the Soviet union's investment in science under a realistic lens, which is neither optimistic nor heroic, nor even overly critical; we always hear about the cult of technical science in the Soviet union or how bureaucracy and party politics stifled true science, or how lysenkoism and pseudoscience reigned under stalin
>>16868735Because all the intelligent people were sent into Gulags thanks to commies and even after most of the science was very prohibited or had very limited funding unless its what party wanted or you had big friends above.Just look at Korolev and his space program. He literally got thrown out of gulag straight into cold desert and ordered to build rockets. You expect people to innovate under such conditions? All the smart people move out of there on the first opportunity
>>16868735>soviet scienceNothing but lend-lease, which technically began when the Anglo made the Chinaman human centuries ago. The only mongoloid technology is AIDS.
>>16868735>is it unfair to say that the Soviet system never reached the levels of scientific innovation as the westProvide some relevant examples of "scientific innovation in the West" during the relevant period so that we could compare. >inb4 90% of your examples are consoomerist plastic slop, theoretical pseudoscience and new methods of mass murder
>>16868736>Because all the intelligent people were sent into GulagsOnly 271.000 and mostly from Typhus
>>16868735You can dislike the Soviet Union's government while appreciating their sciences. They made huge leaps in space including sending the first satellite, the first dog & first man & first woman to space, the first spacewalk, the first space station, and they launched space drones into Venus which you see the photos in picrel. They also were pioneers in nuclear science, computers, medicine, and they played a huge role in global smallpox eradication. Not bad for a country which at the start of the century was a medieval-esque society with a powerful church, absolute monarch, and starving superstitious peasants. Can't really say the same about India though.
>>16868956Problrm waa a lot of these things hadn't any further plan besides their most immediate objective. Party just ordered projects usually in response to what the west was doing and cobbled whatever they could to make something happen. Kitbashing. Oh and this whole race began because both USA and USSR poached German scientists and their knowledge, but the USSR got less. They were still a much more primitive buraucracy.
Henry Ford tried to build a car plant in the USSR and it took half a decade to build a single car because every time Ford asked the Russians to do something, they would balk because Ford challenge their Izzat. Then they made like 13 cars and had a parade with them like bro. You're not supposed to celebrate until cars are pumping out of the factory by the hundreds per week at least but they didn't understand that. Forget about space travel, soviets had problems with ground travel.
>>16868956nice pic, space guy, how can I find similar picture sof jupiter and saturn, are there any?
>>16869001>Party just ordered projects usually in response to what the west was doing NTA but what was the West doing prior to getting BTFO at everything space-related by the Soviets up until the moon landing? Must've been something super-significant to trigger such a strong Soviet reaction. :^)
>>16869017>>16868956I've been querying google for general info on jupiter, wtf how is it so fucking hot if it is way further away from the sun that we are?
>>16868736>You expect people to innovate under such conditions?Unironically yes. True genius innovation kind of just happens out of nowhere, but for the most part, the best work done by humans are under direly stressful conditions.
Have you heard of probability?
>>16869001>Party just ordered projects usually in response to what the westThe Soviets started the whole space race, that's why JFK gave his Moon speech in 1962 since America was lagging behind in space travel.>Oh and this whole race began because both USA and USSR poached German scientists and their knowledge, but the USSR got lessThat's true many people don't know that Germany had some of the best rocket scientists in the world at that time
