who in their right mind would want to be a logician? this is next level autism

Adolf Lindenbaum, obviously, i thought /sci/ was literate
Is that the one which requires Choice?Model theory is kinda circular when it comes to justifying theories ngl

>>16870253>SetupActually a ChatGPT giveaway. Not that I am against that.85% of questions on this board can now be answered by ChatGPT. Somehow I see people pushing back on that. You'd think this is just a progressive bias.
You need to study it to own liberals
>>16870257I'm not sure but it looks like one of the Open Logic Project textbooks. It is not uncommon to find "setup" sections on elementary material. For example, the setup for an epsilon-delta proof in a elementary calculus textbook.
>>16870240Everyone should be logician, if you're not then you're unable to form coherent thoughts, chains of thoughts, reason accurately.
>>16870240>>16870243Formalised in Lean4 or GTFO with your handweavy rambleling!Joking - certified autistism represent! nearly done a PhD in something logic-adjacent -currently embedding another programming language language in lean for shit and giggles (which helps me slowly getting back on my feet, ready again for normal work life and social interaction with ze normies). I like symboles and rules quite a loot! Boobies too, but logic a bit more - its a deep joy.Would so love to learn about this topic 24/7!
>>16870313There's a difference between understanding the basics of good reasoning and... this shit.
>>16870313But this isn't that different from saying >Everyone should be a topologist, if you're not then you're unable to form coherent thoughts, chains of thoughts, reason accuratelyFirst because topologists also learn to reason carefully, but more than anything because the chapters of logic that would help everyone form coherent chains of thoughts are very early and very elementary in a career of logician, who ends up studying concepts no less abstract and useless to common people than those of topology. I agree with you that the engraving at the door of Plato's Academy should have a modern equivalent for the everyman, but that hardly entails calling a citizen who knows his trivium a logician.
>>16870324Literally all you need is a solid foundation in classical logic and you're good to go. That's all the average person would need. Nowhere does this abstract shit show up irl because this shit isn't even designed to be used irl. It's just a higher abstraction of something we do in daily life when making arguments or whatever, except to the ultimate fucking extreme.
>>16870240According to these autistic nerds evolution is logical and real. Everyone with a brain knows its fake as fuck

>>16870240When you're doing philosophy research like me, it's easy to see allure of something objective and cumulative like formal logic instead of arguing about literally everything and getting nowhere while making others roll their eyes your work is useless (which is correct). And since you can switch to logic while working as analytic philospher quite easily, I definitely see a lot of people going this route. So philosphers choosing logic - understandable. As for mathematicians choosing logic instead of other branch of math (probably more useful and less dry) - no idea, but I guess it's a pretty niche option for them anyway.
>>16870720Some mathematicians just want to finish a project before they decide to kick the bucket and need the opportunity to work on logic to be able to do so.
