Many pleasures may not be essential, e.g., drugs, but our brains are wired in such a way that pleasure has emerged from natural properties or biological drives. But can we self-consciously rewire what makes something pleasurable? If we were able to affect how we perceive pleasure, we could change how people learn, how they are motivated, and even how they work or live their life. Should this be something we alter on a neurological level?
