Pic related, what textbook did you use in your solid state physics course? Was it a good textbook that taught you well or was it bad, if so, what are your other recommendations to read?
Bump, because there is no way we dont havr physicists on this board
>>16879855>what textbook did you use in your solid state physics courseOxford, but the professor ended up teaching a random disorganized assortment of topics that were increasingly distant from actual solid state mechanics as the semester went on.Was still fun. He was the only professor I had who seemed to enjoy teaching.
>>16880457>He was the only professor I had who seemed to enjoy teaching. That's because he teaches a elective that he's passionate about, compared to teaching mechanics or e&m, those classes are boring.
>>16880457Did you get an A in the course or did you get a B or C?
>>16880101we have hep, not ss
>>16880553>we have hepWhat is hep?
>>16880557hepatitis
>>16880558Stupid
>>16880559nou
>>16880623You are fucking stupid and are not contributing to the thread at all
>>16880557high energy physics
>>16880647I consider the study of high energy physics to be stupid, i believe that there is much more importance in studying something practical such as ss.
>>16880631>>16880648You are a piece of shit and you deserve everything bad that happens to you
>>16880552An A of course, but it wasn't a particularly demanding class. Why do you ask?>>16880491>compared to teaching mechanics or e&m, those classes are boringHey, E&M is fun
>>16879855Ashcroft mermin is quite good its very straightforward in its explanation kinda like the C programming book. Kittel is also nice. If I remember right but both are quite lacking in terms of modern topics I don't know if there is any solid state book that also has a short chapter on simulations that would certainly be a good topic to cover.
any more recommendations?
>>16884831It doesnt look like it, it seems ashcroft and mermin is the best one according to other internet site reviews. The field of solid state physics jist has not updated their books in quite a while.
