Sperm is plentiful, eggs are limited. Produce sperm in perpetuity. Plap plap plap. When eggs become limited, the drive is there to use them. Baby fever peaks in women at 30-32. Even staunch child free women will want to get pregnant.

Men die in combat, often at young ages in the prime of life. They thusly must spread their seed sooner. Women do not die in combat as often and thus have a larger window to procreate.
