Assuming you know the prevailing direction and speed of the wind, how far, wide, and tall the pole is, and had full control of what angle the feather will be released at. And each one could be mundane, or even a net positive, for the body on their own. But maybe you just happened to eat an apple at the wrong phase of your metabolic cycle and some secondary metabolite reacted with a secondary metabolite from some celery you at two days ago and that reaction put out just enough energy to knock something lose in the protein and cause a misfold.

By shear numbers the misfolding event is something greater than 20-30 sigma and beyond - if the story is just a misfolded protein and that such proteins are never cannibalized. I am thinking of mad cow disease where the prion disease is triggered by cannibalism of prion infected tissues.I am done digging into this.
