You guys heard of this? what do we think of the practicality and if its actually gonna have a net gain. Tiles that absorb your kinetic energy placed in high traffic areas like bus stations to get energy. Sounds like a dope step toward cyberpunk cities, I really wanna see a real super city before I die, shit has stagnated too hard
Jarvis, run a cost per kilawatt on this vs Chinese bulk solar panels
>>16918113Absolutely worthless thing. The build cost of a thing like that is so far out of proportion with something simple like a solar panel. If you make the movement range too high it's going to feel like walking in snow or mud and if you don't then it doesn't make energy. On top of that it will struggle as a road, it's going to be a nightmare to maintain and you can't run heavy equipment over it. About 99.99% of people would prefer that they just installed a solar panel over the road to give some shade and cover for rain (handy for bus stops and other high traffic areas). It would be cheaper, provide more power and provide more utility without compromising on the roads ability to be a road. It would only have some gimmick value perhaps for advertising purposes.
>>16918113>ideagrab random people, force them to walk for eight hours on hamster wheels below the streets. compensate with coupons for reduced price status item balenciaga phone case or some shit like that
>>16918162you can do both. your alternative doesnt do anything to discredit the road.if its the only road you will use it regardless if you like the feel. The real problem is that its involuntary unpaid labor.
I guess solar freaking roadways weren't dumbest thing possible after all.
>>16918270No, you can't, because those tiles aren't efobomically viable. Just ask them for the price of electricity without any subsidies. It will be thousands tikes more than any alternative.
>>16918113>Sounds like a dope step toward cyberpunk citiesIt's a step backward. By harnessing energy dense mineral deposits we have all the electricity we need appearing as if by magic as far as the city dweller is concerned. But that's not good enough for you. You feel unsatisfied, there is an emptiness in your soul that can only be filled by strife, struggle for survival, conflict over resources, social dominance. You walk by a street lamp and you seethe with rage because it just works. You want it to flicker on and off, forcing pedestrians to obediently tread on the plates to prove their loyalty and earn its meager glow. We really need to start ignoring performative nonsense.
>Those People intentionally throw trash onto the ground and it falls down into the finely machined precise cracks, it jams up and catches fire.
>>16918113It's not particularly practical, it's more of a PR stunt to raise awareness about the need for more alternative electricity generation.
>>16918113I have to power hose my door mats every summer due to the amount of dirt particles that accumulate in them over the winter. This nonsense is not even going to last a month before it gets clogged up with shit.
>>16918113It makes normies more accepting of getting farmed
>>16918113did they watch too much rick & morty?
>>16918114you realize america makes solar panels right
>>16918113>Tiles that absorb your kinetic energy placed in high traffic areas like bus stations to get energy.why would you want to "absorb your kinetic energy" from buses or from people? if it gets energy from buses, how is this any better than regenerative braking? if it gets it from people... lmao, sounds retarded af.
>>16918617>why would you want to "absorb kinetic energy" from buses or from people?Because you're masochistic and/or suicidal.
>>16918113>make it harder to walk to steal your energy
>>16918113We have already invented nuclear energy, so I don't see a reason to bother with silly things like that.
