Sorry, but when I watch Isaac Arthur or other Futurists, I'm not impressed.

Futurism to me means looking at trends that are happening NOW and extrapolating them, not picking up thought experiments and assuming they are real things.

There is nothing about humanity that exists right now that suggests we will build Dyson swarms, or huge flood continent-wide flood defenses and Von Neuman probes violate the 2nd law of thermodynamics.

And yet, I see a lot of "scientists" talking about this shit like its actually worth worrying about. These people don't understand the concept of "opportunity costs". Yeah this shit physically possible, but who the fuck is going to spend their time doing it?

That it least is something that is happening now rather than fantasizing about whether Dyson Swarms will be able to finance another round of AI funding when we have never launched 1 satellite that orbits the Sun and beams down any energy, let alone useful energy.

Maybe focus on getting one of these fucking things up first...
