>>16923817If the species don't generate or take external output, you could put them in a single static array. Then store only a single byte offset (by enum) in the struct instance itself, or a pointer, rather than a whole string duplicated across all instances. If your species count is high enough and distributed evenly across most of the alphabet you can use a switch statement to make it generate a jump table where you only check the first letter. Rather than calling the function every time for each potential match and duplicating work. This also solves call vs inline decisions in the checking function.

>>16924534this is I think the third I've seen here this month, imagine how bad /g/ isbut threads now last 6 days instead of one...Just how bad was the board botted?
>>16923817Why are you learning it? There's truly no reason to unless you're needing to save CPU cycles in some low level shit, in which case you'd be advanced enough to not ask about it on 4chan
>>16923883no ada?
>>16924686Not botted... more like jeeted........
>>16924686Also the situation is extremely grim in /g/, it's either mudslime ai coomer or shitjeet twitter screencap posting the same shit over and over again. Neither of them can speak proper English btw.
