What drives the correlation between brain size and intellect? Actual causality is quite weak. Why did homo brains get so big?
Inflation.
>>16927335The correlation is pretty high if you correct for the size of the body. Like, size of the brain relative to total body mass is a pretty good indicator of an animal's intelligence, also known as "encephalization quotient"There are still outliers even if you use this because animal life has spun off in so many wildly different ways but it works pretty well in general.
>>16927340I'm referring to whites and blacks, men and women, etc... being equally intelligent despite the different brain sizes.
>>16927340I would add that it's extrenely strong, if you look at the size of parts of the brain, responsible for thinking.
>>16927398There's a limit to trolling, sir.
>>16927340Ok but if human size brain good enough, why whale have big brain?Or why human have big brain if small brain could suffice? You'd think evolution would favour increasing performance over increasing size, if the absolute size is almost irrelevant. A big head is really inconvenient.
>>16927719whales have a lot of nerves that need to end somewhere
homo sapien brain is big because homo ancestors brain is big, easy
You see, the fruit, it expanded the minds of the apes. It may have been a fruit, a monolith, or both. If you eat a computer chip and the current from your body activates it, it could begin to alter your genetics. Eating hallucinogens may have triggered a epigenetic change resulting in neural and cranial structure.
Unironically eating more meat.
>>16927335maybe with so much intelligence a species will require even more machinery for self-deceptions, otherwise it won't breed
