you don't make the scientific error of assuming that only what's observable is real, do you anon-kun?~

>Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

>not observable
ok cool story bro but why should I care exactly?

>doesn't believe in a soul despite its potential transcendence to observable reality as it resides in pure spirit

Only things I'm currently observing are real. As soon as I stop looking at something it stops existing.
Also I'm the only person who's actually conscious, everyone else is just a philosophical zombie.
>>
>>16932339
No. The soul is made out of mayo.
>>
>>16932265
You can have those beliefs but it's silly to claim someone with different beliefs is making a "scientific error" when science is simply a set of limitations we use to be precise when talking about independently observable things.

We can argue about souls all day but still agree on what's objectively necessary to fix a car.

I used to be a solipsist until I saw other solipsists and realized how gay they sound. Since I'm not a gaylord I couldn't possibly be a solipsist.
Proof by being straight.

I'm going to shoot you in the back of the head.

There are non-observable things we believe in already. Eg quantum phase, or any particle corresponding to a non-singlet representation.

One must provide a good enough argument and empirical evidence supporting that argument.

nope you'll be happy to know that I believe in many things with no empirical evidence:
>the multiverse
>dark matter
>dark energy

it must be observable for science to work
>>
>>16932660
Is math observable?
>>
>>16933108
Different Anon, but techncially yes, same how a thought is observable.
I'm not definitively claiming that thoughts are physical, but the possibility is there.
>>
>>16933115
Delusions are also observable but false. Math is observable and true. No observer is perfect.
>>
>>16933128
All demonstrably true statements, but I don't understand what that was necessarily trying to support/contradict.
>>
When the universe split off, its particles were miniaturized. Creation requires something smaller than itself to manifest in.
>>
>>16933128
delusions are merely interpretations which arise by, say, neurotransmitter shit messin up
the interpretation exists, but is not an accurate depiction of the real world

>doesn't believe in unicorns that painlessly rape him at night despite its potential transcendence to observable reality as it resides in pure spirit
kekkking my ass off m8 imagine not believing in unicorns

>it must be observable for science to work

Its meant to show that observation alone isnt sufficient to do science, because observations can be delusional. This raises the question of how to differentiate delusion from reality.
>>
>>16933181
Oh, right. Yeah, that makes sense.
Usually through experimentation, rational argumentation, or some combination of both, which is science.
>>
>>16933181
delusions are real, if you think hard enough
>>
>>16932373
>science is simply a set of limitations we use to be precise when talking about independently observable things
tell that to modern scientists, like for example cosmologists or the entire set of social sciences
>>
>>16933128
Math isn't true. It's a set of rules we made up that sometimes parallels reality in useful ways.
>>
>>16932265
Anyone have a source for OP's image or know the artist? In full size not 193x336 like OP posted.
>>
>>16933303
they can be. think of all the things from older star trek that are now reality. some nerds grow up with those fantasies and become scientist and create those things.
>>
>>16933733
have you tried reverse image searching
>>
>>16932265
There is no way to proof that the Moon causes the tidal fluctuations of Earth's oceans. The gravity could be coming from photons hitting the atmosphere, also on planets without atmospheres there is no gravity.

I'm 100% certa9in that your Jewish book of lies is false, your dead Jew on a stick was a delusional madman, and your Big
Jew in the sky is just the desire of slaves for a perfect master.
