Im about to graduate next month with a engineering masters degree. Should I just have started a trade 6 years ago instead of pursuing this bullshit? How is it that an elevator mechanic makes 200k but my job prospects are retarded excel monkey 80k jobs after doing 6 years of fucking Fourier Transform homework

You get women.

That's the reward.

the salary for a job is defined by the professionals' scarcity
too many engineers and too few mechanics because people dont want to get their hands dirty or risk their physical integrity

The physical danger for the guys getting paid more than OP is the real reason for their paycheck. Engineers only kill others, not themselves, if they produce shitty work.

Elevator installers aren't getting paid more because of the risk, it's because the elevator installer unions have pushed for insane rent-seeking regulations to deliberately drive up the cost https://archive.is/uFxqo

Yes. Anyone going to university for a high paying job is retarded.

I want you to do something on /x/, photograph shadows that look like figures until you photograph this

what kind of engineer?

Was it fun? I am doing computer science because I like discrete math and algebra more than calculus and analysis. I mostly just like algebra. If you just wanted money, want to work longish hours, and want to do a pretty good job, then trade probably would have been a better option I assume.

Fair point. I update my stance to this cause.

I'd rather do excel in an office with women to meet for $80k (starting) than fall down an elevator shaft and die for $200k at a sausage fest construction site
