If schizos are basically degens out of tune with reaility (with progression from Cognitive disengagement syndrome -> Schizophrenia prodrome -> Full schizophrenia), does it mean antypsychotics can increase your connection with reality, make you more present, focused, etc?

What they basically do is antagonize dopamine receptors in nucleus accumbens (motivation circuit in limbic system, responsible for "low impulses" in behavior), and antagonize serotonin receptors (which cause bad mood and act as a brake on cholinergic / muscarinic systems). Some of them boost dopamine in prefrontal cortex (like stimulators) and BDNF. I found at least one study where antipsychotic drug improved executive function by 33% in healthy monkeys:
>Effects of lurasidone on executive function in common marmosets

So, what do you think? Maybe we have negative perception of neuroleptics because schizos are given very large doses so that they don't go full-retard, while microdosing can actually be beneficial?

I think reality IS the problem and drugs only mask it.

Yes, certainly. Antipsychotics induce tissue growth, improve oxygen circulation, and reduce oxidative stress in the brain. We are of certain of that.

Agomelatine is better.

Why this board attracts schizos so much?

What is it about Hellenic philosophy makes reductive narcissists cry schizo so much?

Can you please show a study? This sounds enticing

And explain mechanistically how it works a-z

these aren't reality pills, they are taking unregulated circuits and regulating them better, they don't confer sanity or something. if you want to raise prefrontal dopamine/BDNF, then just take things that target those areas

Like what?

I tried a bunch of antipsychotics to treat my intrusive depressive thoughts and improper anxiety induced ptsd, but in the end it was SSRIs that made me clear headed

nootropic they are not, I took aripiprazole for months and the only thing it realistically did was very subtly change things. I felt maybe more emotional but also maybe more care free? its probably the ultimate placebo drug because it's definitely noticeable but also non-impacting. its a lot like consuming CBD desu
