>was always passionate about astronomy, science and programming
>never actually dreamed of become an astronaut because even as a child I always knew my shithole country doesn't have a space program
>always knew astronomy doesn't pay enough to buy bread
>actually studied CS for a about a year, but saw AI on the horizon and (thankfully) jumped ship early on
>decided to become a surgeon, purely for the job security
>tfw I still code for fun in my spare time
>tfw I still look at the sky with my telescope
>tfw now I have to write a 50-page-long thesis on a field I don't give a fuck about
I'm sorry mister Sagan, I failed you.

Use your surgery skills to make cybernetics for astronauts. Like make robot lungs the capability of holding pressured liquid oxygen reserves so that astronauts don't have to wear space suits to breath.

The story of The Cosmos as told by modern science is truly the greatest story ever told: the story of a Cosmos that is incredibly creative, having time and time again grasped beyond what is immediately possible towards novel forms and structures. The universe's trend of increasing "complexity" is a trend of increasing significance of elements to each other. We are a way for The Cosmos to create with itself - for us to create with each other.

Practicing surgery is an incredibly creative act of great significance to those receiving treatment. The human body is a universe of complexity. At the very least take comfort that your profession is tangibly meaningful, when many are not.

I had to try and change my destiny to stop becoming an astronaut in the future. It could kill you easy, they don't care, also sending a ship to another planet means you die far from your destiny and returning means you could end up being born in another country from the orbital spin. They all suck..
