Why did I develop lifelong Crohn's disease after taking Accutane when apparently there's only a 0.1% chance of that happening? Am I just that unlucky? And why is the pharmaceutical industry even allowed to sell you drugs that give you lifelong diseases that make you permanently dependent on even more drugs with even worse side effects?

tough luck dude

I have Ulcerative Colitis. It's not just one factor that contributes, but many. Some have more effect on different people than others. It varies from person to person, and on a case-by-case basis. It is exceptionally unlikely (but possible, I suppose) Accutane singlehandedly "caused" your Crohn's disease, but may have possibly served as a factor contributing to it. Stress, genetics, and simply random chance (as well as other factors such as this one or even factors we have yet to identify) can influence manifestation of an autoimmune disease.

So, it's not really "giving you" the disease. Just increasing your chance for it. The off chance of it having any influence on whether you manifest the disease are the reason it is mentioned as a side effect. Sometimes, the worse side effects are rare or multi-faceted and just have to be listed so they are not sued attributing any disease or complication to their medication.

I'm on Remicade for my UC. It's got the black box side effect. Scary, but the actual odds of the medication having influence in the development of any of them are very low. They just have to list them so they don't undergo lawsuit.

Basically, it's cheaper this way.

Just do a carnivore diet bro for Crohn's disease, no need for any meds

>Why did I develop lifelong Crohn's disease after taking Accutane
Taking Accutane is literally CRAZY, I'm so sorry that you were subject to that medical misinformation for you to take such crazy high doses of one of the most potent regulators of stem cell differentiation/proliferation.

Basically, retinoids regulate the behaviour of stem cells. Stem cells are the unique cells in the body that can self-replenish, and can convert into specialised tissue cells through a process called differentiation. However high levels of retinoic acid can directly inhibit stem cell proliferation, interfering with growth and repair.

And which cells in your body require constant growth and repair? Your epithelial cells in your gut! No wonder you fucked it up by interfering with their repair.

Now you have to stick to a no fiber diet or carnivore to avoid any gut issues.

>crazy is having crippled skin on purpose
Crazy is thinking that retinoic acid maxxing is the only way to fix that instead of fixing your diet that's causing your acne issues

>muh gene altering foods
my diet was at least a 1000 times "cleaner" (i.e. no random foods your schizo ass say are bad) back when i had it
