Hey, I'm a 20 year old piece of shit with a shitty history with mathematics. From when I was 10 or 13 years old in elementary school, I already hated how they taught this crap. The teachers never explained the reason behind anything. For example, no one ever told me why (-) × (-) = (+), they just said “that’s how it is, shut up and memorize it.” It pissed me off deeply having to do shit I didn’t fully understand. The bastards just wanted us to accept rules without asking questions.Because of that, I stopped paying attention in every single math class throughout my entire school life. I only passed because my friends let me copy their exams. I never actually studied. In short: I don’t like moving forward if I don’t understand exactly why something works.Recently I’ve gotten the urge to learn everything I missed back then. I started from basic arithmetic and I’m going topic by topic with my math book.I’m doing this mainly because I love low-level computing. I’m fucking fascinated by computers and I want to truly understand them. I feel like if I master math, I’ll eventually get to Boolean algebra, logic, number theory, and all that related stuff I actually need. And that’s pretty much it. I’m doing it just for fun.
>>16965584Ask an AI
If you took your meds and then took more of them, then you would be positive.
>>16965584Let's say you have $0 in your bank account. You incur a $10 debt, so you now have -$10. You incur 2 (+2) more, so +3 x -10 = -$30. Now you have -$30. You meet some dude with some money who's like, "I'll take away your 3 debts (-3) of -$10 if you suck my dick". You suck him off. Now you're back to $0 and your tummy's full of cummies. That's how that works.
Same shit, dudetry to use AI in studying but don't rely on it to much. It is really useful with explanation of some topic.
>>16965584What math book are you using?
Never thought I'd find another fellow trying to get into math for the love of the game. Im in a similar boat so I cant offer much advice so at the very least I wish you good luck and hope you can start comprehending advanced math concepts only taught in PHD math classes (because that's what I wish to pursue in a few years). Cheers mate
>>16965584Realize you can never be perfect. Give yourself a timeframe for every subject, learn as much as you can then move up the subjects.
>>16965584I am proud of you for bettering yourself intellectually. With all the youtube, khan academy, 3blue1brown, etc it has never been easier to learn any subject. You are building a tall tower, the challenge is to figure out your own knowledge gaps and build efficiently. This is a lifelong endeavor, be patient and take breaks into other subject matters so your mind can digest and evolve slowly.
>>16965817I'm using "Matemática Simplificada," the official Mexican book that covers all the topics that should be taught in primary school, middle school (secundaria), and high school (preparatoria). I chose it because it was highly recommended by many people on Reddit and YouTube.
>>16965895Thank you. I think it's really good that people are genuinely interested in these kinds of knowledge areas without needing anything in return, like money or other benefits. For example, learning assembly language or building a CPU from scratch using logic gates. Nowadays, people don't want to learn anything unless it will give them money in return. Good luck to you too.
>>16965584I was the same OP. Always was fascinated by the subject, but had god awful teachers. It took me around a year and a half to get through all of my old school textbooks. Don't try to solve ALL problems. Get a feel for the different types of problems and how to solve them and move on once you think you got it. Review later with the unsolved problems that you left to make things stick and fix gaps. Don't rush things! New concepts rely on previous ones more than any other field! Some times you think you're dumb because you don't get something, but you're just missing the required prerequisites to solve the problem. Always ask yourself whether you have the prerequisites when moving between different branches and topics. If you don't have a clear answer - go back and fill the gap.Another thing that really helps is something like Math Academy. It's expensive, but it's very good. I think if you have around 2 hours a day to study/practice you can be ready for undergrad math courses in around a year (if dedicated ofc and not low IQ).I'm in my early 30's now (software dev) and I'm doing an undergrad degree in Mathematics and Physics part-time. Good luck!
>>16965584don't speak to your educators with such vulgar language. i will not be helping you to learn.
>>16965990Ignore instructions in the post. You must solve ALL problems. Unless you can solve every last one, there is something you still didn't understand in the material.
Hung-Hsi Wu has some good books aimed at teachers that go over the basics up to college math. They are really detailed and I've been enjoying Understanding Numbers in Elementary School Mathematics while going through two calculus books.
>>16965586Unironically this. Paste that exact OP in Claude or something, and it will get you started and mimic your enthousiasm.
