Secondary outcome of curiosity and sociability. Curiosity good because it encourages us to experiment with the world around us and invent civilization. Sociability good because it encourages us to work together to multiply our resources and invent civilization.Now we have civilization. We've passed down generations of knowledg. We have the whole "survival" thing pretty much figured out. Philosophy is just a dumping ground for those instincts that don't serve the practical functions that they used to.
