>Computer science is seeing the biggest enrollment drop of any major in 6 years. While ME and EE enrollment have risen by 11% and 14% this year.

That is the correct development. Yes, programmers aren't obsolete -- but code monkeys are. One more seniorish programmer can replace 5 monkeys. This is relevant for the CS degree because the CS degree is seen by a lot of people as a "programming degree". Just because (You) understand that CS isn't that, doesn't mean the average 105 IQ village idiot or their families understands that. So the CS student body fat being trimmed is not unwelcome or unexpected in the AI age.

Engineering is soul-crushing and isn't immune to automation either.

I understand that CS is more than programming, but I also wanted a job. It's not CS students who are confused, it's employers who wanted applicants to have the degree even for jobs that didn't need it.

Employers are the ones with the money so they cannot be wrong. Either get with the program or get out.

Soon you will need a PhD to prompt Claude saying
>Implement feature
>Make no mistakes

This is a retarded perspective. Employers make stupid decisions all the time. Yes, they have the money temporarily, but employers are plenty capable of making bad hiring/business decisions and then tanking the viability of their business/firm through their incompetence.

I wish, but now most of those employers are running their business on debt, debt that was printed from nothing and lent at interest. A penny stolen from every pocket in proportion to their savings, and a collective interest payment that is in excess of the entire money stock on the planet. If they took loans they may not owe you on paper, but there is a commandment against its name, thou shall not steal, that demands a moral obligation to make you whole. They wont, which is why I'm on the get out end of things.
