>if you travel at the speed of light, time no longer becomes relevant to you and any measure of distance essentially feels instant to cross no matter how farwhat the actual fuck?
From the point of view of light photons, the moment they left their source billions of years ago to when they hit the telescope observing them was instant. Creation at start of universe to wham...hit the JWST. Crazy.
>>16967113That makes no sense
>>16967078>if you travel at the speed of light, mighty big "if" there.
>>16967078What's there not to understand? The light coming from behind you will come to a standstill as it will never reach you, so everything behind you vanishes. Everything in front of you will turn into gamma rays and they will be invisible, so everything in front of you vanishes. No comprehensible information will be present to you, even the interactions of your own body will accelerate to the point where anything you might perceive would just become an incomprehensible blur.
>>16967113Is the photons point of view in the room with us right now?
>>16967113It's not trueAtomic clock time changes with things like satellites are a meme. When you move fast, it just moves the interacting particles "further apart" so the interactions happen slower than normal, giving the illusion of time passing differently. It's the equivalent of me shooting a target that's placed further away and then because the projectile takes longer I say "SEE! TIME CHANGED!"
>>16967078You can't travel at the speed of light though. Having mass prevents it.You can only get closer and closer to the speed of light by continuously accelerating. To you it will seem like the universe dies its heat death in a heart beat. Even if you slowed down again you would end up in a dark empty void.
>OMG DA SPEEEDE OF LIGHTEEEEEE!!!
i only have a pop sci understanding of particle physics but doesn't the higgs boson give mass. so why dont we just remove the higgs boson from our body and to travel at light speed and then give back the higgs boson when we arrive at our destination.
>>16967078You would also start to oscillate between an electric and magnetic field, you won't know where you are.
>>16967078yeah, its kinda weird. you can travel to the end of time. can't come back though. good luck.
>>16967630Okay this was pretty funny, nice one. Also no you are far below even pop sci with that suggestion.
