These people are talking like they have a functional product that will be available by 2030. Is this real? If it is why doesn't it get more attention? Fusion power is like the holy grail of power production.

Because their company name is absolute shit.
>>
>>16967282
But are we really getting fusion reactors soon or is it a media stunt?
>>
>>16967315
of course its a media stunt. if they had something promising to show, theyd show it. instead, theyre just scamming retarded investors

fusion power is a meme.
yeah fusion releases a lot of energy, but unfortunately creating the conditions on earth where controlled fusion occurs requires practically the same amount of energy you could get from fusion.
the process needs to be orders of magnitude more efficient for it to be a viable power generation scheme and there's no way to do that even in theory.

>there's no way to do that even in theory.
Evidently they don't know the things you do.
And they are scientists while you post on 4chan, see how life is unfair?

>we will figure this out one day

CFS announced they're completing construction of their test reactor by next year, recently, if I recall. I'm going to hold my breath on what they can really do until they can turn the machine and it can produce a good Q factor.

Just need technology for frictionless gateway.

retard.
they aren't doing fusion research in order to actually create fusion energy. it's all about the other tech they improve or create to use in pursuit of this impossible task. literally none of them seriously believe we will ever achieve a fusion powered electric grid.

They are yet another fusion meme company and I can guarantee that absolutely nothing will happen in 2030. That being said they are lot less of a meme than many of the other fusion companies and they do have a test reactor coming up soon™ so if you are interested just follow how that comes up. Their plan is for it to demonstrate viability. My prediction is that it demonstrates fusion and maybe even breaks even in the sense that the absolute energy going in will be smaller than the energy theoretically coming out but absolute energy going in will be like 1/10th of the actual electricity they need to use to run the machine and they will not capture most of the energy coming out so it will not be economical in any sense. They will then pat themselves on the pack for a job well done and seek funding for a bigger reactor that will for sure this time actually make more energy than it consumes.

>The new fusion power plant, named ARC, is expected to come online in the early 2030s and generate about 400 megawatts of clean, carbon-free electricity — enough energy to power large industrial sites or about 150,000 homes.

>CFS is currently completing development of its fusion demonstration machine, SPARC, at its headquarters in Devens, Massachusetts. SPARC is expected to produce its first plasma in 2026 and net fusion energy shortly after, demonstrating for the first time a commercially relevant design that will produce more power than it consumes. SPARC will pave the way for ARC, which is expected to deliver power to the grid in the early 2030s.

It sounds serious. I don't see any grifter language anywhere which is why it made me double take. Skepticism is totally valid but I think they believe they have something real.
