are brain computer interfaces possible without drilling a hole in your skull? or is the electric signal too blurry outside your head to be useful?

its possible with hyper-focused lasers, but this is extremely classified stuff. best not look into it unless you want to be suicided

probable with hyper-focused brains

Yes but they will be pretty shitty. Like you could get the sort of resolution that lets you know what parts of your brain are active and maybe send back bit of vague data too but the applications of that are non existent. If you desire a brain-computer interface why not drill a hole in your skull, it's not like the procedure is particularly painful or medically challenging. Frankly it should be fairly cheap and safe as far as boring a hole goes, installing the electrodes in the brain will be more expensive mostly because it's highly specialized and unnecessary work which allows hospitals to absolutely rake you over the coals with it.
>>
They are called mobile phones and computers. Just because they are not inserted directly into your brain doesn't mean you're not using your brain to control them.

Theoretically, but It has terrible implications. EEG electrodes measure the cumulative activity of many millions of neurons. Any useful information will be destroyed by averaging together so many neurons. The only way for it to work, is if the brain rewires itself to fire millions of neurons together to create a signal that can be detected. Do you really want your brain to lobotomize itself to become a wireless transmitter. Its kind of like how you can turn your computer into a radio transmitter by running code that uses up 100% cpu running very specific patterns. You really don't want your brain doing that.

They would come over and suicide you.

We've had some shitty ones for ages. Good ones? No. Even inserting electrodes is dogshit. Plus it inevitably leads to scar tissue and the interface failing.

the interface is formed by your fingers and the computer's keyboard/mouse. you could probably get fancy and use an interface that reads your eye movements to free up your hands - imagine how fun that could be.

>millions of neurons
I stopped reading there. Retard
>>

You can read shit from brain without drilling. But you cannot write shit.

The main function of writing is to give feedback loop. Giving vision to the blind, giving hearing to the deaf, giving voice back to the mute, giving paralyzed people to walk by connecting to different nodes, etc.
>>
>THE SIGNAL HAS BEEN ATENUATED SO IT'S MORE DIFFICULT REEEEEEEEE
I know dumbasses, but is it impossible or do we need better electrodes? I heard we are on the quantum limit of detectability or something
>>
>>16968868
But why would your want to do that? It's counter evolutionary
>>
>>16968935
It's counter evolutionary to shit posts on the internet from your smartphone too.

>It's counter evolutionary to shit posts on the internet from your smartphone too.
Yeah. The internet makes people mentally and physically ill and makes life worse for everyone in every aspect. What's your point?
>>
>>16968948
If you have the right to shitpost, then others have the right to get healthcare.
>>
>>16968980
Rights don't exist, and even if they did, your kind wouldn't have them anyway. And what "right" do you have to escalate dysgenics?
>>
>>16968868
>write in the brain.
no thanks. I don't want unskippable ads between thoughts
