Renewables aren't cheap anymore when you hook them up to the grid
>>
>>16968616
You have causality reversed, people with costly grids will swap to the cheaper alternatives first because of course they will, not to mention people who can afford to pay for electricity will be the ones to have the money to buy renewables first because they are essentially a global commodity.

>people with costly grids swapped 50% to renewable
>the grid still isn't cheap
Explain this.
>>
>>16968622
Price of electricity isn't determined by the price of electricity production but by peoples ability to pay for electricity. Cheaper production means higher profits for the producer of electricity which is why they (the producers of electricity) are switching over to renewable energy, because it's cheaper.

Dont care
>>
>>16968627
You should care because your tax money is being wasted to chase "net zero" that would only push energy price higher.

Now post the pic of the prices with renewables excluded. It will be exactly the same!
>>

Dont care if the bill is higher. In fact, i changed my mind, i would prefer if the bill was higher.

Oof, the UK is done for. No wonder Clarkson's farm isn't making sense. Importing fertilizer is going to become a thing of the past.

oh shut the fuck up

tl;dr The electricity price to consumers is based on a weird law related to the wholesale market so that the price per unit is based on the last unit sold (i.e the most volatile and expensive due to match demand spikes). In the UK they now generate more renewable energy than not but that isn't reflected in the final price so they are going to change the law. I suspect it's the same in other countries.
