Cheaper production means higher profits for the producer of electricity which is why they (the producers of electricity) are switching over to renewable energy, because it's cheaper.

In the UK they now generate more renewable energy than not but that isn't reflected in the final price so they are going to change the law. I suspect it's the same in other countries.
