I'm from Southeast Asia, even though I didn't take the Gaokao exam. But honestly, the education here is still very bad. School is truly a battleground for students vying for status through grades and academic achievements to please parents and teachers. That's right, no critical thinking, just rote memorization. Learning each sentence and answering on paper perfectly like a robot.Their emotions have become so numb that only achievement truly defines them; without it, they are nothing. For example, I used to be a very good student, winning city and provincial-level academic competitions. But after failing the university entrance exam, I was completely ostracized.Honestly, I wasn't taught anything about critical thinking, so when I started living independently, I was completely lost. Homeless, without purpose because I lacked a real sense of purpose.Until now, my life has depended solely on exam scores and teachers. As a result, I felt completely lost, and there were times I contemplated suicide, but luckily my grandmother saved me.I gradually absorbed foreign knowledge and realized that I had neglected many things. Currently, although I'm still poor, at least I have a clear direction for the future, a well-defined plan. Luck came my way when I got hired at a car repair shop; I was learning the trade and earned my first salary at the age of 29. Now I have enough money to buy a PC. Enough complaining, I just want to say... FUCK THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION!
Proud of you bro, yeah I also hate it when teachers and students overvalue simple information absorption and treat people better and worse depending on their grade
>>16968820The asian education system makes kids forget happiness and doesn't allow them to develop interests. You should pursue a career that makes you happy

>>16968820I hate the education system so much. There is no country in which it is actually good, only varying degrees of being terrible. The UN and the education systems in every country love to jerk themselves off about how they’re giving kids a ‘future’ (I wonder how the kids that committed suicide because they were forced to go are enjoying that) and saving them from the cruel labor practices of yesteryear. The education system was not established to enlighten people, it does the opposite and instills national myths and capitalist values. The education system was established to turn people into valuable proles, and while education is part of this it comes secondary to discipline.
>>16968820>Gaokao exam.I actually like solving problems from several asians exams ,a shame you guys ruin the noble art of learning , a better model would be the soviet ,it was difficult but it pushed you to develop critical thinking.
>>16968820Its grossly inefficient. Learning how to read and write and do basic arithmetic should be enough for 60% of the population, and only 5% or so should go to university. Most jobs you learn on the fly, engineering jobs used to be nothing but working with engines since childhood.
>>16968820Be glad you aren't in America. Our system is based on how Jewish you are, grades don't matter.
>>16968820Sad coping OP.>>16969263>a shame you guys ruin the noble art of learningNot really. The only notable problem is the neglect of the humanities and many states in Asia are gradually making up for it.>>16969606>Learning how to read and write and do basic arithmetic should be enough for 60% of the population, and only 5% or so should go to university. How stupid are you? An admission rate of 5% to a diploma or degree program would basically be super unsustainable and lead to a total loss of a skilled labour sector. How the fuck would making education be more "exclusive" help anyone out.

>>16969252I'm not sure there's a way to create a public education system that isn't a total shitshow to some extent or another. It's too complicated, too many moving parts and too many variables. Feels like mass literacy (or mass semi-literacy at any rate) and free babysitting are the biggest netgains of public education.
