Finals Week EditionThread for professors and teaching assistants to discuss their work, complain about students, share advice, etc. Most of us are at or approaching finals and the end of the semester. If you're already through, well done, another year wrapped up, and if you're not done yet, hang in there, you're almost to the finish line. Tell us how finals went or how you think they'll go, discuss things you did differently this semester that worked (or didn't), tell us about your plans for Summer, etc.
Every semester just gets more depressing. More students failing exams, more students caught cheating, more students coming to my office in the days before the final asking what they can do to pass the class after they stopped coming to lecture six weeks ago.

>>16969976I'm seeing the same. I've scaffolded the entire semester and the students are dumber than a rock. They've also started whining to my chair. From now on, they're getting the easiest class of their life. I'm going to make it easier than high school.
>>16970006Stay the course anon. Making your course easier just compounds the problem for everyone else down the line. You’re not doing them or anyone else in your department a favor by lowering the bar. I’m going even harder on my intro classes next year.
>tfw you submit the last gradeJesus, what a fucking year. Long semesters, shorter semester breaks, short winter break, 3rd year review, writing a grant, two committees, and down two faculty so I worked a fucking 6/6 load. I've been doing 70-80 hours a week every week since the first week of August. Why do I keep doing this to myself?
