Most parasites could probably go. Mosquitos, ticks, tapeworms, etc.

Yeah but a sentient species is probably also necessary for granting life a chance at perservering beyond Earth. In only 600 million years all life is doomed thanks to solar expansion, and technology is life's only hope at perservering beyond that
