Two doors have goats. One door has a car.

You pick a door blindly, at random. So you are twice as likely to pick a goat than a car.

Then other details of the game (which I won't list here) happen. Suffice to say:

The rules are such that you want to switch when (and only when) you have randomly picked a goat the first time.

Put another, even simpler way, you only switch if you picked the "wrong" door.

What are the odds of randomly picking the thing there are two of, versus the thing there is one of?

The best plan is to always switch because it's twice as likely you've picked the "wrong" door the first time round.
