Mars Transfer vehicle "Odyssey" is preparing its final checks for its month long burn to mars using it 6x NERVA engines. Will be reaching the red planet in 9 months time. There they will board the MADV "Pioneer" currently in parking orbit above mars to descend to surface.

So the power system of odyssey are firstly the reactors from the NERVA clusters, auxillary fuel cells, lastly the solar panels.
In case of reactor meltdown the safety procedure is the complete ejection of the nerva propulsion unit and the craft have rely on four super dracos for course corrections they are in the free earth trajectory so its safe.
