An example of the cyclical aspect were Japanese and German factories that were razed to the ground during WWII but by15 years after the war ended had better and more modern equipment than the American factories that had made the things that destroyed them which were still using legacy equipment. Similarly the original internet infrastructure was built in America but as it became obsolete upgrades were slow and infrastructure even slower due to boomers once again preferring to save a buck and failing to see the use case for faster internet. When pressed on the issue they said shit like the country is too big and rural. When it was pointed out that there was no problem doing the same for electricity and telephones they circled back to saying congress didn't give them enough billions. Disaster of a generation.

I ride my bike every morning, I live in New Orleans LA and noticed something in the sky that I've never seen here and thought it might be a rocket launch or something. This was at about 5:50am CST. It started pretty low in the horizon before the sun came up and it was brighter than anything else in the sky at the time and just kept going up until it eventually disappeared when I turned south and couldn't see it anymore. The picture is crap quality but it's a phone pic and I didn't stop to take a picture just did it while riding. Any idea what this could be? Only things I could find were some falcon 9 starlink launches out of Vandenburg. It gained way too much altitude to be an airplane contrail or anything like that

>>17007456In theory there's a GSLV launching "next month." It was supposed to launch on the 10th, but that obviously didn't happen. The PSLV is supposed to return to flight in July, but there's doubts about being able to pull off that quick of a turnaround after the GSLV launch, if that even happens. In either case, I haven't seen any posts showing hardware arriving at Sriharikota, which is a strong hint that neither of those rockets are going to be launching any time soon.It mildly more positive news, Skyroot Aerospace has completed the first set of flight hardware for their Vikram-1 and should be ready for a long sometime later this year. The first Gaganyaan test flight is also supposed to happen in late July or early August, and that's less likely to be hindered by delays with the PSLV/GSLV.

https://x.com/LandSpace_Tech/status/2071522675085000725>UPDATE | ZhuQue-3 Y2 Reusable Launch Vehicle Completed Static Fire Test>On June 29, 2026, LandSpace’s ZhuQue-3 Y2 reusable launch vehicle successfully completed a static fire test at the Dongfeng Commercial Space Innovation Pilot Zone. The test comprehensively verified the vehicle system, the ground support system, and the compatibility between them. All systems operated normally, and test data and results met expectations, validating the correctness and coordination of system operations and laying a solid foundation for upcoming flight missions.>All key pre-launch ground verification work for the ZhuQue-3 Y2 reusable launch vehicle has now been completed. The team will proceed with launch preparations according to the established plan, making full preparations for the flight mission.

>>17008005>can Chinese llm models even work due to the logographic nature of their bugman language?LLMs already don't use words. They use tokens. If the output layers of an LLM get confused it will start predicting the output token language incorrectly and give you a random Chinese character that happens to mean approximately the same thing as the English it should have given you. It's relatively easy to induce with code switching in the prompt. But the bigger takeaway is that the deeper layers are more or less language agnostic. They're not processing words or sentences or even representations of them, which is pretty strange given that is their nominal purpose.I suppose that answers your question but it's doubly or triply irrelevant because Chinese isn't strictly or even largely logographic and because LLMs actually do fine processing Chinese text.
>>17008017It's a testing driven process. That means until the testing cadence is sufficiently high you will have some smart dudes sitting on their hands waiting for results. It's still better than designing anti-empirical rockets and hoping the process works (it doesn't) and ultimately only building a few units because the process is crushingly expensive even for superpowers.
>>17008182It's technically refurbishable via the carbon and nitrogen cycles and via fertilizer, but of course much more efficiently than refurbishing a space shuttle.I don't think there's demand for strictly reusable food.

>>17008243A lot of it is retarded, but Beck's on point about spectrum being a finite resource. Iridium might be a trash company but it could be worth it just to acquire their spectrum for a different product.

>>17007574>why?because it froze spaceflight in place for 40 years and caused normalfags and many experts to outright give up on reusability until spacex proved them all wrong, it completely demoralized humanity for no reason and all because of design compromises made due to budget constraints.

>>17008224The S-III was a two J-2 stage, to be used in the C-2 (2nd stage) and C-3 (third stage), both designed for Earth orbit rendezvous architectures.NASA changed the C-2 to have a 4 J-2 S-II 2nd stage when they took over Saturn in 1958, and the C-2 was cancelled Jun 1961 in favor of the C-3 due to estimated spacecraft weight doubling in this time.I didn't find the reasoning why, but the C-3 dropped the S-III in favor of the S-IV in 1960, and later the C-3B moved to the S-IIC-5A and S-IVB. I imagine that the added performance of the S-III wasn't worth the complexity of designing a whole new stage. In November 1962, Lunar orbit rendezvous was selected and the C-3 was cancelled because it no longer served a purpose.
