Gentlemen.

I'm a self-taught 31M that's been learning web development (Javascript, CSS, HTML, Node.JS, React, etc.) for a little over the past 2 years via a number of online resources. I also have some familiarity with Python, and am obviously familiar with Git/GitHub.

My question for you all is this: do you think it's possible nowadays for someone like me to successfully break into web development, or the technology field in general without a computer science degree?

Can it be done? Can I do it, even?

>Can it be done?
Anything can be done as long as you're in the right place at the right time.

>Can I do it, even?
Most likely not software development, not as you are now. Your skills are too low. The market is currently swamped with people, so without the CS degree that everyone else has, you won't even get past HR. Also, I believe specializing in only web development is dead (or only back end, etc). You should be able to do do everything, including: front end, back end, and database at a minimum. Also, the current interviewing fad is still asking leet code problems (leetcode.com), so if you've never done them before, you'll need to start practicing them for a while since no one is good at that sort of thing if they've never done it before. That alone will save you from a very demoralizing first interview experience if you ever get one.

>tech field in general
Yeah probably. Most people in tech as a whole don't know shit, let alone programming, so being able to program actually puts you ahead of them. Those jobs won't be dev jobs though, so you'll be unlikely to do much if any actual programming work in them.
