Hi, /soc/, I'm Michael.

It's been a while since I've been on 4chan. I'm here because I'm looking for people (who are serious about helping the world) for whom to volunteer my services.

I own [redacted], a company at which I solve complex operational and social problems for individuals and companies, from scratch, for free.

I work for free for individuals or companies whose focus is on helping people instead of profit.

Services include but are not limited to: engineering, design, and writing.
If you are interested, please comment your email and I will send you details.

Details will be: company name, previous work, links to social media, etc.

To know that I am replying to your email and not someone else, I will provide a redacted version of my email:

Michael.*.*******93@gmail.com

Thanks
Michael

I had an idea that might improve society but I'm just some guy.
I live in one of those quiet European countries where everyone is nice and minds their own business, recently I've become friends with someone that moved here from a Mediterranean country where people can't shut up and he finds it difficult to penetrate this cultural norm barrier.
There's a place where he studies that has a lounge so that people can opt into going and having a chat but what if instead of going to a designated time and place you had a way of taking that openness with you, signifying to the world that you're willing to greet and get to know the other people in it.
So what I was thinking is just a simple armband or a pin with a symbol signifying that you're open to say hi, just a small thing that doesn't ruin your outfit or style.
Obviously the challenge would be to bring awareness and make these things available and cheap but I'll leave that to someone who knows better about these things.
It was just a thought, a way to opt out of this unspoken assumption we have about the other people that we pass by everyday.
A way to turn perpetual strangers into a potential friend you've yet to meet.

One could say this is already happening in subcultures/fandoms where people wear signifiers of common interests. It makes it easier to go up to someone because you already have something in common. The pin idea may be received well by certain people but most people probably can't or won't wear them for multitude of reasons.

I think the idea is nice, but I have the same concerns as the next commenter. We need to be careful with things like this.
>>
>>34462971
That already exist. That is why autists are covering their bags and laptop with patch, pins, and stickers. Just go talk to strangers, coward. If you are unwilling to do that no special pin will help you.

Sheesh man you don't have to be mean. He could be a very social person for all you know anyway.

Hi michael. I've worked in the nfp/charity space for the last 20 years. Posting this kind of thing on /soc/ instead of the many accepted ways to offer your services for social good is very strange, and makes me highly suspicious of you and your goals here.

all the best.

>>34462971
did you just reinvent the handkerchief code for conversation instead of gay sex
>>
>>34465156
I understand. Usually I would try reddit or LinkedIn but I'm trying to refrain from posting non-anonymously. What are the other ways to offer services of which goi know?
>>
>>34465625
In the nfp space, who you know and word of mouth is the most effective way to connect with people who need your services - if you're in any way competent you'll have companies beating down your door. the best option is people you've worked with in the past mentioning you to organisations they know you'd mesh well with.

I'm finishing up at my job because external funding for core program is ending. I've had three orgs reach out to me with firm job offers. I haven't applied to anything, I haven't asked anybody to put in a good word for me, but people I previously worked with deal with those orgs and apparently think I have something they want. I don't have any unique skills, and I'm not doing it for free.

you said you own a company and do it for free, how long have you been doing that? would the people you've worked with before recommend you?

I started the company a few days ago. I don't know why I didn't think to reach out to previous freelance clients, thanks

If you are starting a business which helps people, and if I like the idea, I can help out with implementation. Bur I have strict rules about our process.

Everything must be made from scratch

>I started the company a few days ago.
then who you know is the most important thing. if you have previous clients in the area, ask them

>If you are starting a business which helps people
nope, I work backroom at existing orgs and occasionally help set up or expand small orgs. I'm not what you're after.
>>
>>34466323
Ah ok. And I guess an update, previous clients are money makers (profit oriented) rather than help-oriented.

Still looking for the right partner(s)
>>
Really excited about this. Is bumping still okay these days?
>>
>>34462929
What kind of scam is this?
>>
>>34474331
This is not a scam.

How capable are you? I'm interested in helping the world, I have an idea that COULD change America's health, but would not make much money, probably, and would be difficult to pull off... maybe not, though. Consumers just need incentive. Consumption isn't always bad.

I have about a decade of (web) engineering experience, and design. I've done work for Fortune 500 companies. That said, things will be a bit different than the typical. I am coding from scratch. No frameworks, no libraries.

Interesting you mentioned health. At the moment I'm working on a chemical reaction simulation interface, with pure JavaScript.
