Don't sell yourself for fucking ritalin My assessment was literally checking of the symptoms that accurately matched my experience, having a secondary person check what they also observed, then having the psychiatrist say yes or no. That simple and telling them what your going through will work in your favour for getting meds (they don't hand them out like candy, despite what people say but it's not hard either). There is better ways to deal with this. Do you need someone to talk to about this or no?

It was with a referral and my psych enquired about my financial position, then reduced the price due to my circumstances. You can tell your GP your situation and they should find an affordable option too. You only get a set amount of appointments too so you're not gonna be paying forever. Your medical information is legally private so if you don't use their insurance, they can never know. If you weren't so far away, I would let you try it for free without being an ongoing supplier. If you do get your hands on some, be careful and then get legit sources after if it works for you

ADHD or any ND is your natural state, the needs just help manage the extremes largely for the benefits of others. Getting a diagnosis is to help you advocate for yourself, explain concepts for others to understand. Amphetamines aren't going to make you normal or even balance you to "normal" because you already are. Your friend will get more out of it if she stops trying to treat herself and start accommodating herself.
