Was Seibold leaving Souths after a year to go to the Broncos a sliding doors moment? Would he have had a career still? Or would his 'academic' ways eventually backfire on him at Souths? Was this always his fate?

>The Perth Bears have landed a big win on the transfer market after reportedly signing talented young playmaker Jasais Ah Kee from the Dragons.>Ah Kee is highly regarded, having been crowned the Dragons’ Harold Matthews Cup Player of the Year last season and was contracted at the club until the end of 2027.>Fox reported in April that the Dragons were in a battle to keep him though, with the teenager instead expected to test the open market. Fox understands Ah Kee had interest from multiple NRL clubs and was close to rejoining his former club, the Penrith Panthers, but has decided to head west for family reasons, signing from 2027 to 2029.>He will be on a train-and-trial deal from 2027 before progressing to a development contract in 2028 and Top 30 deal in 2029.>The Bears are also closing in on North Queensland’s Mason Barber.>Barber is a product of famous rugby league nursery Keebra Park High School and while he is yet to make his NRL debut, he has consistently featured in their 19-man squad.>While the Cowboys would love to keep Barber, the fullback’s path to regular minutes in the NRL is now blocked with Jaxon Purdue tipped to replace Scott Drinkwater.
>Ah KeeIs he related to Caitlyn Ah Fook?
There’s a song that goes Ahhhh-keeee. That could be his special meme song
PNG have signed Connor Watson and Matty LeesEveryone on their team is a marquee so far, how are they going to balance their cap?
*waits for a player named Lump*
>>154971965For Souths and Uncle Wayne it was. Seibs isn’t finished, he’ll be in the conversation once someone gets fired next season or retires. I think he’d be excellent at Melbourne or Penrith, system clubs. He might’ve been good at Souths because we are a hybrid club, he failed at Brisbane and Manly because neither of them are system clubs

Foran officially given Head Coach role at Manly
Great news. Long live Fozball
Is he really that good at giving head?
Those who can do, those who can’t teach (coach)
>>154972267He is not a head coach. He’s excellent as an assistant. No shame in that. Look at Jason Taylor
Maybe he IS a head coach and he needs better assistants

>>154971888Does anyone know when charging down conversion and penalty kicks at goal were outlawed? I can't seem to find any info on that particular bit.
On NRL360 they said the rule came about "3 years ago". IIRC the impetus was Lachlan Illias getting a broken leg in NSW Cup which was in fact 2 years ago
>Nathan Hindmarsh's son plays jersey flegg for the Panthers Nathan gotta be rolling in his grave
>>154972943Fact Check:>Nathan Hindmarsh from Peels fame is still very much alive and appears along side Fletch on Fox Sports>Nathan 'Hindy' Hindmarsh can take care of himself and any issues arising from his son or any other issues, pic related >Nathan Hindmarsh has four sons: Archie, Buster, Rowdie, and Dodge Billy>His eldest son, Buster 'Deez Nutz' Hindmarsh, has followed in his father's footsteps and at age 17 has a two-year development contract with the Penrith Panthers in 2025.
>>154972230Are the Bears boasting about signing Harold Matt's players??
>>154972830I don’t know. I’ve always thought of that difference as a professional courtesy, because a missed shot due to chargedown is still a missed shot

I am now exclusively focusing on the sc cup, which means I will inevitably lose this week.
>>154973436I know for conversions in union (it's also outlawed for penalties there, but long after the split) they're always running towards the kicker on the off chance that they can charge it down. If it wasn't outlawed in league they'd be doing the same thing here.>>154973481Wow, that early? I didn't expect that. Thanks.>1899>After a player had been tackled a loose scrum was now ordered formed to allow the ball to be brought back into play.Early rules were wild af. I have no idea what made the NRFU think this was a good idea.
>>154974539Scrums back then were more ad-hoc and fast setting, there wasn't even formal rules about scrum numbers and they could set at any time (not to the refs instructions). The first play the ball rule comes quickly in 1906 but it's still a scrum format, just a completely ad-hoc one where the forwards slop-in even more quickly and try to push over the ball like a semi-formal ruck, saving a few seconds from setting up a "proper" scrum. It's not until the 30s that it becomes a modern (albeit contested) play the ball with just four players. There's historic video of the old ad-hoc scrum format, I'll try to find. I guess the benefit is it opened the field up each play, may have produced exciting backline movement with less defenders in the line. Versus union it produces cleaner results compared to rucks and mauls suffering continual breakdowns where the ball gets trapped under fallen players (or devolves to penalties). The scrum/play-the-ball gives it a structure and typically clears the ball by making the tackled and tacklers get to their feet first.
>>154974539>>154975206In the video here there's a play the ball of the ad-hoc scrum type, where erhe forward all slop in and push over each other. From 1922:https://www.nfsa.gov.au/collection/item/earliest-footage-1922
>>154975315>Visible in this footage is the early rule about how the ball is played after a tackle. At this time, a loose ruck is formed when a player is tackled, but with the players not really binding as they do in rugby union. Four years later, in 1926, the two-marker play-the-ball rule was introduced.
>The set of The Rugby League Show 1967, with Rex ‘Moose’ Mossop as the host, Mick Maher to his right and Bruce ‘Lapa’ Stewart on his left. Along with the famous ‘Controversy Corner’ segment, a feature of The Rugby League Show was the passing competition sponsored by the Commonwealth Bank. The bank’s elephant logo formed the bullseye of the target; if you managed to pass the ball successfully through the bullseye you scored 10 points and triggered the sound of an elephant trumpeting. The highest point scorer was awarded a range of gifts including a Pelaco shirt, a Meapro ham and Patra fresh orange juice. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Thinking about bringing in lehi, Isaako or jenkins ladies
>>154974539In league if any player on the opposition team moves whilst the goalkicker is taking his attempt and he misses the ref can ask the kicker to take the kick again. This is on penalties and conversions

And both codes' referees already screw up enough as it is.Also I don't think I've seen that haka before. Wonder why NZ stopped using that.>>154977446Yeah, I'm aware it's different from in union. >>154982555I blame the reffing
>>154982555I looked the study up. It was 12 extra cases of DV above normal in NSW on Origin night. It was in proportion with a similar bump in non-DV assaults (about 30 more cases, from memory), and both were almost certainly caused by drinking more alcohol versus a normal Wednesday.
>dude, do you ever just like, look at your hands
>I... Ive got the golden touch
>>154983116They call em fingers, but I never see em fing
>>154983098Yeah but if DV groups blow it out of proportion they might get extra money.

>>154983777unironically more reliable than tesla
REMINDER: Matthew Johns and the 2002 Cronulla Sharks locker room ran a train on a 19 year old girl.
>>154983644Even one person being a victim of domestic violence is a problem for the whole community. It’s not always alcohol related
>>154983851The bump is alcohol related, its very similar to the Christmas and New Year's Eve bumps. Origin is unusual in that it falls on a quiet night and turns it into an drinking night, at home or the pub, so suddenly your calm Wednesday becomes a louts Saturday of assaults, both DV and non-DV. The fact there's still 30 DV assaults every normal Wednesday is obviously a big issue, but the easiest way to cut that is to jail more men for longer, particularly Aboriginal men who commit DV in highly disproportionate amounts (their victims being other Aboriginals), it's a crime of repeat offenders, but it requires a government appetite to stand up to the wokies.
>>154983832Thanks Fatty
360 is unwatchable now. It's meathead's insulting eachother for the sake of jestering. Unfunny, unintelligent, tedious try to sit through.
Rumour going around that the Sharks might leave Shark Park and split their games between Kogarah and SFS
>>154982555Not unlike the increase in DV right after England's soccer team play a match, I see.
>>154984617Might as well send them to Adelaide if they're going to do that.
Another rugby convert
>>154987587Don't some of them switch back and forth depending on which code's world cup is next?
NRLW pays more and has 10x the number of paid positions
>>154987617Can't say I've really noticed this happen
>>154984137Need some data to substantiate this. Percentage of indigenous population in NSW to start with, and then the individual incidences. I’d like to factor in the Barassi Line too because it is conceivable that a proportion of the DV is committed by angry VFL supporters who are so emotional about there not being any VFL Origin they lash out at their spouses, or boyfriends.
>>154987928BOSCAR regularly produce data on Aboriginal over representation as part of the closing the gap targets (34.4% of the current NSW prison pop are Aboriginal). The problem is of the three criminal justice targets, two are to keep Aboriginals out of jail so it equalises non-Aboriginal incarceration rates, and the third is to lower the number of Aboriginal women and child victims of DV so it equalises the rate for non-Aboriginal women and children. You can't do the latter without jailing a lot more Aboriginal men. From 2022:>18 per cent of domestic assault incidents involved an Aboriginal person as the primary victim, varying from 14 percent for “other” domestic assault to 20 per cent for family assault.>Over a fifth of incidents involved an Aboriginal person as the accused, with this being relatively stable across categories. https://bocsar.nsw.gov.au/documents/publications/bb/bb151-200/BB176-Report-Attrition-domestic-assaults-nsw-cjs.pdfhttps://bocsar.nsw.gov.au/research-evaluations/2026/nsw-custody-statistics-quarterly-update-march-2026.htmlhttps://bocsar.nsw.gov.au/research-evaluations/2026/Closing_the_Gap_Quarterly_Dec_2025.html3.4% of NSW people identify as ATSI.https://www.abs.gov.au/articles/new-south-wales-aboriginal-and-torres-strait-islander-population-summary
Some thoughts. Basically full strength Panthers very similar to how they rolled out first few games. Origin, some restings, and playing the tigers will galvanise them. I think they'll revert to structures used earlier in the year, meaning that they'll target Jenkins, and anyone on the right won't see much of the ball as they put up 40 points. I was looking at Alamoti and Mclean, but I just can't go past Jenkins. Every chance he bags another double this week. Alamoti won't kick this week, so he's a no, but I was flirting with the double Panthers play of Jenkins mclean. To do this, I'd have to boost, one of which is a downgrade. Its a toss up between nuffing and trell2. Nuffing is probably better, but I hate doing it. VC looping is critical from here on, so I need to get rid of the shitters. My only issue with mclean is origin and rd16, does he play, does he backup etc so will probably go elsewhere. I've gone a smidge cold on Lehi, more because it's a manly thing and they play early in the round. Part of me thinks now that Foran is signed, performance will slip a bit but that's not the issue. I want to be strategic with the 3rd trade and use it mid round to bring in someone late to draw one of their players or take a punt on mulitalo vs the dragons if I'm behind. The only other consideration is that sc cup doesn't play big bye rounds, but does do little. So I don't care too much if they don't play 15, but I'm hoping to still be in it for Rd 16. Ideally having good match ups in both 14 and 16
>>154988828Anything on unreported incidences? It could merely be that people of non-indigenous cultures (ponics) are culturally far less likely to report DV and that alone would explain the discrepancies. And it has to be sports related, obviously.
