I didn't feel it in 2022 either. In (real) winter, it just was strange. And Qatar was not worthy of hosting considering how small and boring the country is and how little football culture/history they have. The tournament was well-organized and the games were entertaining for the most part, but that didn't save the rest. World Cups are about atmosphere a lot, and you get the hype before the tournament starts, so organization and game entertainment are not a factor at all
This World Cup feels just as bad to me because I absolutely despise this dumb new format with 48 teams in groups where up to three teams can advance. It's fucked up. Also, three hosts? Just sucks. It being the second fuck-up tournament in a row provides additional damage
But I know that part of it is also that I've grown older and that I hate the DFB even more than I did 4 years ago, which is something I'd have considered impossible in 2022

I don’t know how anyone can take FIFA seriously after Qatar or put anything past them. If they’re willingly to blatantly sell a host bid then you can’t put anything past them. I’d much rather have had a kino Australia WC in the winter (the given reason they didn’t get it in the first place, they couldn’t host it in the summer and Qatar said they’d have flying shade drones for their outdoor stadiums lmao)

FIFA are scum for sure. I mean, things started being shady much earlier than 2022, but this was the mask off moment. Then they came up with the shit format and three hosts for 2026, followed by six hosts on three continents for 2030, followed by Saudi-Arabia for 2034. At this point, everyone knows they have no limits and no morals. There is nothing to expect
Australia would have been a good host, timezones being shitty or not. Southern hemisphere in June/July would have worked as well. I thought the main issue with Australia was that the stadiums weren't 100% what FIFA envisioned (not pure football stadiums), and that AFL franchises and their schedules were making things hard. In any case, it is a shame that they apparently forgot to bribe FIFA officials. But then again, Qatar was probably giving everyone golden yachts and harems, hard to compete with that
Makes you wonder what the Saudis were willing to give so that FIFA absolutely shits on the 100-year anniversary of the World Cup to clear the way for Saudi-Arabia (and only them, suddenly none of that multi-hosting shit they love so much now) of all countries
