What was the first ever world cup that you watched or remember? For me it was 2006

2006 Feel the love generation
1998.Brazil-Scotland first game I watched.
1978I am older than Death
>>1550131712010. I was 10 years old at the time. June 11th 2010 it was a sunny Friday. I ran all the way from school just to turn on the TV to watch South Africa vs Mexico. Just as I turned the TV on Tshabalala was sprinting from one end to the other to score that famous goal with Peter Drury commentating those famous words. A fantastic time to be alive
>>15501317198also still my favorite
>>155013171>watchedI think 98, but I barely remember anything, I was 6First one i legit "watched" and remember is 02 tho. Even remember missing the finals cos I was in the hospital for a ruptured appendix surgery
I have a few memories of 1998 but the first one I remember stuff like groups, knockout paths and such was 2002.
>>155013171I was born in '98 so 2006 was my first that I watched
>>1550131711998. I still have my Michael Owen number 20 shirt and I vividly remember when Becks got sent off against Argentina
1998 but I don't remember anything specific, only that Zidane was there, but mom bought me the ballthen 2002, I remember we were obsessed with Hasan Sas and Hakan Sukur at school, Turkey did exceptionally well that year
>>1550131712010. i was 6 so i barely remembered it, but they had the whole primary school sit in assembley to watch the england v germany r16 game. they stopped us from watching once it was HT, i think the teachers were too pissed off about the lampard disallowed goal.

>>155013171>>155013219>>155013255Youre not old enough to be here. The earliest one I remember is 98'.
>>155013350Disgustingly young. Not happy about this
>>155013219>>155013255>>155013304>>155013350
>>155013351I remember still having a pithy bandwagoner mindset and wanting Brazil to win, but it was explained to me that its best that the bigger teams face an early elimination. Grew me out of that way of thinking at seven years old.
>>155013362I'm 26 lil nigga
>>155013171'98. My grandfather was a huge football fan and that was the first time I was able to understand enough for him to explain it for me. But to be fair I only remember the day of the final match (not even the match itself). The rest of my family were sure Brazil was going to win, and I was the only one to favour France. I then went on to correctly guess the champion from before the beginning of the tournament in '02 and '06 as well (yes, I seriously did guess Italy), finally losing the streak in '10.
'98. was disappointed that Ronaldo was pretty much dead for the final
You lot are old
98 I still have a VHS tape of Argentina-England that I recorded for some reason.
>1998 was 30 years ago
I remember the logo from 1990 but I don't remember any of the games. England didn't qualify in 1994 and the matches were all on in the middle of the night, so I don't remember much of that either, although I remember the sticker book. 1998 was the first one I followed attentively; I even taped the final off the TV so I could rewatch it.
>>155013236I kneel. Are you retired?
>>155013171>2002
1998. I was seven years old but I still have a very distinct and clear memory of the England-Argentina game. I was crying when England lost and became a Liverpool fan after due to Michael Owen's brilliant goal.I also remember the final very well. We were all supporting France and had our faces painted in the tricolour. I was shocked at how easily they dismissed Brazil as I didn't expect them to win at all. I bet a friend a pound that Brazil would win.
>>1550131711924
>>1550131712022. Was a goated cup frfrfrfr
>>15501317186
Watched it but have faint memories: 94.Actually remember it: 98.
> All the insecure chuds on this board are actually 30+Holy hell this is terrifying
>>155013362>2006>Youre not old enough to be here. The oldest one I remember was 2010, grandpa
>>1550131711990
>>155013445are you an octopus? do fishermen's women dream of you too?
>>15501317198
>>1550131712006 although I don't remember much, I remember that year's Afcon more vividly. I guess the first proper one is 2010 and I remember it being incredibly shit
>>1550131712006, the headbutt is my earliest football memory kek I was 5
>>155013171Same I hated that stupid bear though
>>155013171i remember celebrating 2002 WC, painting the 5th star with a pen and going to the streets with my friends but i can't remember anything about the match itself.
>>155013423Go die in a fire zoom zoom.98 Chad here
2002, ronaldinhos freekick against seaman was nuts (first time i ever saw ronaldinho)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNiMxYb2oTA
>>15501317194 but only some "flashes" in my mind98 was old enough to remember most parts, especially the frustration of the final.
>>15501317198Romania - England 3-2
It was 98'.Watched with my sister the shit show that was the Croatia Game.
How are you guys coping in your 30s?t. 32 year old and started balding, rentfag and no wife/gfIs it over?
>>155016166Yeah it's over. You can off yourself now.
>>155016048Why do people keep pretending he did that on purpose?
>>1550131712006, but I remember watching germany beating saudi arabia 8-0 in 2002
>>155016202So you never experienced the Brazil at its peak.
I remember a bunch of relatives came over to watch the 2006 final, but I didn't care about football at the time and instead played vidya with my cousin.
>>155016388All WC had some unforgettable moment or even more of them.2006 was Zidanes Headbut.
>>1550164032010 Karate de Jong2014 7-1etcI really hope there will be some serious shitshow this time.
>>155016048that was great but this is my favorite dinhohttps://youtu.be/fygu4KrxJqc
1998. I was 8 years old and Ronaldo was my idol. I cried during the final, fucking cheating frogs
>>155013224>1998Same deal. Started watching English Premiership matches in 1997-98 with my granddad so with no prior reference I assumed the WC was every summer after the league season and was bummed to find out that wasn't the case.
>>1550131712006 has my first two clear football memories. Watching the world cup final with my half asleep younger brother and going apeshit when it happened, waking up my dad who was deeply pissed because we were leaving for holiday in Spain around 0400 in the morning. And the Gerrard final, my uncle went absolutely balistic after Gerrards second.
>>155013171Italia '90
>>155013171France 98We were robbed.
>>155013171I remember this cock. I also remember the Baggio 94 penalty, but don't actually remember any matches from that year.
>>155016713>so with no prior reference I assumed the WC was every summer after the league season and was bummed to find out that wasn't the case. Some at FIFA want to do this.
>>1550131712014. I don't remember the 2010 World Cup, but I might have been vaguely aware of it at the time.
>>155017357Same. I remember bits and pieces of 2010. The first one I fully remember is 2014.
'98it was also the year John Elway won the superbowl
>>155015997Kys unc
>>1550131712006 but only the finals. I remember the headbutt vividly and all of the hilarating gifs that came after it.Whole tournament that I member was South Africa 2010 and it probably ruined WCs for me because we probably won't make semifinals again for 40 years
2002sweden vs senegalgolden goal
>>155017623Let's do it together
>>1550131712006, though I barely remember anything about it and watched only a few matches
>>155017060I mean I was 9 years old at the time so FIFA's rationale caters to ignorant 9 year olds (or adults with an IQ similar to a 9 year old)It's a good thing the WC is only once every 4 years.
>>155016166It's never over. Keep believing. Do not rely on your friends to help you; friends are for kids. Adult friendships are worthless in my experience.
>>155013171Remember those 2002 balls being hard as a rock
>>155013171Niggercup, no thank you. now clean this up nigger janny
98Was in the UK at the time, distinctly remember Owen’s goal v Argentina
vague memories of 98 Mr. data miner
1998
First tournament I remember is the 2012 euro and first world cup would be 2014
