They've been knocking on the door for years.

Tuchel has picked a very balanced squad which they never usually do.

The right-back slot has not had a nailed-on name since Kyle Walker's heyday

Age 26 Reece James, the Captain of Chelsea, should be the man to fill the role. Tuchel definitely likes him
>>
>>155084057
from the few chelsea games i watched he mostly inverts and is basically a midfielder no? If he plays as a traditional fullback he will get injured in group stage 100%
>>
>>155084057
He'll definitely be the right back, he took Livramento because he can cover as both right back and left back and didn't take Alexander-Arnold because it's too big a personality to leave on the bench without it causing trouble
>>
>>155083857
Holy shit these defenders, didn't know England is that fucked
>>
>>155084153
James, O'Reilly, Konsa, and Guehi, some of the highest scoring defenders on FPL this season.
>>
>>155076717
Not coming home this year lads
>>
With the Luke Shaw era over, the left-back position is up for grabs. England are blessed with a plethora of different options, including

Nico O’Reilly has established himself as a Manchester City regular over the past 18 months. One of the breakout sensations of the Premier League season, the versatile O'Reilly will be a big asset for England

Tino Livramento
A highly reliable performer throughout the international qualifying phase and impressive for Newcastle, the only question that surrounds Livramento is his fitness. The full-back, who can play on both sides of the defence, injured his thigh against Bournemouth in late April and has just managed to get fit in time for the World Cup. When on the pitch for Newcastle this season though, he has shown an impressive blend of physicality and technique in defence.

Most notable omission:
>Lewis Hall was quite easily one of Newcastle’s best players this campaign.
>>
>>155084170
Not for you
>>
>>155084170
I know the ICE detention centres in Ngubu Central Democratic Republic can feel that way.
>>
>>155084153
Guehi just transferred to Man City because he's very reliable, Konsa had a solid season with Villa, O'Reilly is a Man City player a wing back who can score, James is a solid right back also at a big club. Dan Burn is 8ft tall and will score off corners. Stones can be pushed up into midfield as sweeper cover. These are all completely logical German choices. We are pure German efficiency now.

>>155084253
Ja you are correct

Gone is the duo of shitters Stones and Harry Maguire and now begins the era of Konsa and Guehi

one of the surer names for selection is Marc Guehi. Guehi was the preferred pick of previous England manager Gareth Southgate at Euro 2024, starting every game but one—and that was only because of suspension.

although Tuchel has been experimenting with different players in the heart of defense, the 25-year-old has steadily become the Three Lions' most reliable option at center-back
Guéhi made the big move to Manchester City in January and has made an immediate impact in Pep Guardiola's side. The centre-back has made the transition from Crystal Palace's elite defense effortlessly and is likely to be a nailed on starter for Tuchel at the heart of his defence.

Guehi's partner is a trickier call, with Dan Burn, Ezri Konsa, John Stones, and Jarell Quansah all potential options.

Aston Villa's Konsa, though, has started seven of Tuchel's 10 games so far despite a rotating cast of characters, and the second center-back spot looks like his to lose.

Konsa has been a defensive rock for Aston Villa, rarely getting dribbled past and logging impressive clean-sheet records.

no. americans are going to hate english people because of the world cup. it's going to be popular online to share just how much they hate english fans and english people. they will be unable to forget any rude or bad behaviour from english fans and any negative comment. other countries have the luxury of being able to talk in languages that americans don't understand so they will slightly fly under the radar. this will be the final nail in the coffin for anyone in the us who didn't already hate england. it makes me sad

Kane will be likely be flanked by 2 of these wingers:

Saka (age 24) - He's an undisputed starter

Rashford (age 28) - Rashford has been revitalized at Barcelona and had 14 goals, 11 assists for the LaLiga winners. He's impressed in an impact role rotating with Raphinha, and has regularly made an impact. He might end up performing that same role for England and offers the side something different going forward. Having missed out on Euro 2024, Rashford may also be out to prove himself once again for his nation.

Gordon (age 25) - one of England's most exciting young talents. His blistering pace and directness on the left flank could give England a distinct tactical edge. Throw in his ability to play as a striker, where Eddie Howe has played him at times for Newcastle (where he had 17 goals) this season, and Gordon is a more than attractive asset for Tuchel. Not only can he provide speed and penetration from wide areas but his ability to run in behind is a nice addition to Kane's forward prowess. And he is another one who could be playing for a move with Bayern Munich reportedly interested in a summer deal. He spent a highly successful spell with Newcastle United before securing a major transfer to Barcelona, making him the first player ever to join the Spanish giants directly from Newcastle. He is vying with Marcus Rashford for the starting left-winger position, where Tuchel values his defensive tracking back and willingness to make diagonal runs for Harry Kane.

Notable omissions:
Foden
Palmer
>>
>>155084532
At the #10 spot behind Kane:

Rogers (age 23) - one of England's most exciting young talents who Arsenal and Chelsea are trying to sign this summer. Rogers has enjoyed a spectacular rise, breaking into the senior England squad following a brilliant campaign with Aston Villa. Rogers has been an ever present for Villa in their historic campaign. With 13 goals and 12 assists he has the sort of end product needed in tournament football and can slot into any role across the forward line as well as in attacking midfield.

Bellingham (age 22) - he remains one of England's biggest stars.

Eberechi Eze - A freshly-crowned Premier League champion, Eze had excellent debut season in north London (12 goals) and will head to his first World Cup. Eze's positional versatility also made him a shoo-in for the squad,

and the defensive mids will be:

Declan Rice (age 27) - Arguably England's most important player

Anderson (age 23) - Anderson has emerged as one of the most exciting young midfielders in the Premier League and could be on the move after the World Cup (both Man U and Man City are trying to sign him). Some big performances for England will not only increase his price tag but also that level of interest. Since he made his debut under Tuchel in September, he has kept his place for the remainder of the year and looks set to partner Rice in midfield. His energy, enthusiasm and aggression make him the perfect Tuchel player and he will now get a chance to show just that on the biggest stage for the first time. The Nottingham Forest midfielder provides the energy, tough tackling, and ball-recycling abilities to complement Rice's more dictatorial approach

Mainoo (age 21) - He was a key part of England's Euro 2024 campaign and will look to have the same impact this time around. With Man United, a change of coach, going from Ruben Amorim to Michael Carrick, has revitalised the young midfielder and the level of form he's displayed as United secured a return to Champions League football.

Jordan Henderson - he now will provide vital major tournament experience to a squad with more than a few players who will be making the journey to one for the first time. It will be Henderson's fourth World Cup campaign

Repeated or one famous one like Steven Gerrard?

Marc Guéhi's costly, under-hit backpass to Gianluigi Donnarumma in the 68th minute of the Manchester City vs Everton 3-3 draw at Goodison Park severely damaged City's title hopes. The error gifted Thierno Barry an equalizer, dropping two points that essentially handed Arsenal the title race advantage. The fatal sequence began after Jeremy Doku had given Pep Guardiola's side a 1-0 lead. A weak, misplaced pass from Guéhi allowed Everton's Thierno Barry to pounce, sparking a collapse that saw Everton take a 3-1 lead before a late Erling Haaland goal and a 97th-minute strike from Doku salvaged a 3-3 draw. While a highly criticized and glaring mistake that drew support from teammates like Rayan Cherki, the draw itself did not mathematically eliminate Manchester City from the title race.
>>
>>155085578
the only players that got a higher end of season grade from the Manchester Evening News (who rated him same as Rodri) were:

Rodri
>Guehi: Instantly calmed a boat that was rocking when he joined in January. He showed his class and earned rave reviews from Guardiola and coaches

The only players that were rated higher were Haaland and these five:

Nunes (Portugal): A year when Nunes finally accepted his role at right-back and improved significantly as a result, becoming one of City's most consistent and most reliable players.

>>155084193
O'Reilly (England): After breaking into the team in the FA Cup late last season, O'Reilly looked to barely break sweat as he played his way into being one of City's best players. He will be a big part of the team's future.

Silva (Portugal): What a player. What a leader. The wise old head of this new City team, marshalling the midfield and protecting the defence while keeping standards up across the week. A final year to savour for someone ageing like the finest Portuguese wine

Cherki (France): Fits and starts early on but his consistency and effectiveness grew, and he was exceptional for a month in the run-in. Standout numbers for his first year in English football and he is young enough to get better.

Doku (Belgium): A terrific year, definitely one of the top City players. He is assisting Haaland more and also winning games on his own, with opposition plans to double mark him allowing him to set O'Reilly free as well

The thing that worries me as a foreign peasant is that Tuchel has publicly said he doesn't take friendly games seriously and will only "be ready" when it matter most.

The evidence is there to back up his words too. In qualifying, England won 8/8 games while scoring 22 and conceding 0. Then in friendlies they got a draw and a 1 goal loss.

This nigga is hiding his power level and people are going to be rudely awakened at the World Cup.

>>
>>155086746
Wrong.

Cole Palmer - left behind because his confidence is completely gone after being injured all season. Instead of taking a man on he circulates the ball in the safest way possible. It is not 2024 anymore.

Phil Foden - Never produced for England and specifically left behind because he can't play wide in a front 3 and hold the position, he drifts into the middle and gets in the way of Bellingham/Rice.

Trent - Great crosser and passer of the ball but a defensive liability and he will pal up with Bellingham and sulk if he's on the bench.

Jarrod Bowen - Good G/A but the context in which new wingers come on is needing pace for the last 10 minutes when pushing for a goal and he isn't the quickest, Tuchel's judgement.

Adam Wharton - Elliot Anderson is the player he's going with and he wants Henderson as a player who comes on for 10 minutes. Mainoo plays better next to Anderson.
