Having every single country over like in the olympics is too much of a time waster for a tournament like the world cup. Imagine a whole ass first month of nothingburger matches such a Bhutan vs Madagascar. Hell the world cup is suffering with a bloated roster and too many irrelevant games as is at least during it's starting matches. The olympics tends to have multiple games happening at the same time to accoumt for this but most people dont watch them except for a couple select sportsExpecting every country to show up for the world cup is unrealistic nonsense, some places arent gonna make the cut. Hell there's plenty of countries such as mine that still watch european football leagues inspite not being european so I dont see the problem in doing the same
