Flyovers care about college sports not the soulless pro sports. Indiana, Michigan, probably some SEC school in baseball.
Because all of those leagues are rigged and in this economy, they need to focus on regaining interest in major population centers.

And that large cities are basically the agreed upon meeting places for sport events, at least since industrialization happened. For example in soccer all the big clubs are located in large cities. Because living inland and away from a coast, or even any significant body of water is simply and fundamentally subhuman activity. It naturally follows from this that inland human populations and their resulting cultures tend to be under accomplished and wholly inferior in every conceivable aspect. Additionally, big cities (most of which are coastal) are obviously far better resourced and well established so they'll usually hog all the talent, even in sports leagues as financially equalized as in North America.
