In reality, offenses weren’t as sophisticated and brute strength and size were what most teams relied on rather than the versatility, scheme, and shooting skill which is key today. Also, defense is much harder and takes more effort, focus, and teamwork to execute well these days. The floor is very spread out, illegal defense is gone which gave rise to more sophisticated schemes, and almost everyone on the opposing offense can pass, dribble, and shoot.
