Friendly reminder that if we were 1 country (we should be) we would dominate the entire 2010s. I'm talking multiple WCs and Euros. We needed Courtois, some Flemish centerbacks and De Bruyne.

Friendly reminder that Belgium hate and saying it is a fake country is the gateway drug to hate democracy and Western civilisation. Please avoid it at all costs.
>>
It's a 11v11 at the end of the day, alternative history guarantees you nothing

if france and spain were 1 country they would win everything too
your point?

Rejecting the existence of Belgium, the modern institutional form of „democracy“, and western civilization in its current state is objectively correct

If admitting that Belgium is a fake country makes me a west hater then call me a west hater. I DONT CARE

If France anexed Wallonia and got Hazard it still would have won 2018 against this greater dutch team of yours

And if France anexed Catalonia instead, it would have dominated the 2010s over this team aswell
>>
>>155161604
You might as well just go ahead and add our other Germanic bros, so all of Scandinavia.
>>
>>155162510
Hm, doable, yeah. But a bit of a stretch to me. It’s not quite the same
This isn’t about absorbing the Netherlands into the Federal Republic of Germany. I want that to be torn down so that the entire West Germanic dialect continuum with its centuries of shared history can be put together in a new system

As wildly different as those areas are, they belong together. United in diversity, the West Germanic diversity. A shared dialect continuum and more or less a millennium of shared realms. In fact, this territory should include the Lowlands as well, as it used to. Not for the sake of the modern federal German state - that can get fucked. I wouldn’t mind purging our entire political caste and their entire system for that
Belgium is an unholy alliance of Germanic and Romance, it has no valid national ethnic identity whatsoever. It is a feudal remnant revived for political gain of a foreign power. The federal German states united on their own accord and achieved independence from all foreign powers that way, breaking the pentarchy
It is not comparable. Nothing against Belgium and Belgians, it is a comfy area and the people are nice
>>
>>155164503
Very liberal use of the term 'bros'
>>
>>155164499
Südtirol is. There are some other small pockets where they speak German dialects. The rest is not, Langobard reign doesn’t suffice

Not a single british soul fought in the Belgian Revolution. Just Belgians, dutch and the french who decided the war for the Belgians in the batlefield. The only thing the english did was host the conference that signed the treaty that recognized belgian independence.
>>
Something something Julius Caesar mentioning Belgians
>>
>>155162510
No, Dutch is much more closely related to Low German dialects than Scandinavian languages are.
>>
>>155163756
>he thinks this Dutch/Flemish team wouldn't BTFO those French ngubus
I don't think that, I know that. Without a single inch of fear of being wrong.

The Idea that a weakened belgian team in 2018 + the 40 year old dutch players of the Netherlands who were so mediocre that they failed to even qualify for this tournament would actually manage to win against a improved side of the real champion of the world is hilarious
>>
>>155164927
Britain pulled all the strings to diplomatically bring Belgium into existence, and then it served as a guarantee power and shared their royal dynasty with them. Denying Britain had a vital influence in the creation and maintenance of Belgium is mind-boggling

Idk, all I know is brazilians are horrible in taking care of the environment and the Amazon is undergoing massive deforestation for decades now, literally the Amazon would be better off as a non nation outside of brazil's influence, just take all the Amazon, they are killing the Amazon for quick "progress and GDP"

The Amazon is the lung of Earth, brazilians shouldn't own a single cm of it if they are gonna destroy it

It's because of people like you that others still believe this myth about England 'pulling the strings' in European history despite not being able to hold a single piece of land on the mainland for centuries (other than a city in a Germany, which they stilllost). England didn't do shit during the Belgian War of Independence. The Belgians did, alongside the French army, who comfortably defeated the Dutch forces. The treaty happened because the rest of Europe agreed France couldn't expand further, having already proven to be a continental threat during the Napoleonic Wars. Even back then, it was only the Russian terrible climate and resilience that turned the tide. England couldn't do anything by herself other than defend itself with the navy that she could fund more than the others because she didn't need to fund a land army as big as the others, and always depended on alliances to do anything.

Unless your ancestors wanted to fight again for another few decades right after Napoleon, the only realistic options were to accept a new, french-speaking buffer state (Dutch wasn't recognized), or go to war to annex the Southern Netherlands themselves and do whatever they wanted with it. Creating a new independent state that wasn't part of any big power simply pissed off the fewest people, and it just so happened to be an option that England also supported

>>
>>155166069
They didn’t fight, but you are still foolish for pretending Britain didn’t play a role whatsoever. No serious historian would let this stand, and you know that. You just refuse to look at the bigger picture
>>
>>155166109
Please, go ahead and show me your sources proving exactly how much England offered and paid each of the major powers for Belgium's independence with her finances. While you're at it, show me how much England financially paid for the existence of Eastern European countries, since that other user claimed she also created them by 'pulling the strings.' As far as I know, regarding Eastern Europe and WWI (the conflict who birthed most of them), England ended that conflict as the most indebted country in the world, owing its soul to the United States. They couldn't even fulfill the territorial promises they made to the Italians or the Arabs, their "allies".

You were the guys distancing themselves from the rest of us, I'm afraid. I mean, it worked for you, so no bad blood. And you somewhat are the odd one out anyway, at least by now. 1066 already ruined it a bit
But yeah, maybe. Personally, I am 100% serious though when I say that the speakers of continental West Germanic belong together at the very least. Never going to happen, though

I don't hate Belgium, far from it. It is very beautiful, and the people are cool. But it is a fake country. There is no Belgian people, and Belgian politics show this every day. Jules Destree knew this well over 100 years ago as well. As such, I personally believe Belgium should not exist. But it existing has its perks, don't get me wrong
